Ripping Copy Control CD's

What is the best way to beat this crap. Ive read where you can put tape around the edge or black texta (didnt like the sound of that) or at a slow speed which Itunes seems to do but it still doesnt work. Is it similar to multizone movies in that some drives will play them and others wont?
