He's been forced to play deep in defense against some of the best small forwards going round. Once he develops a greater defensive side to him, hopefully he will get more time in the middle and we'll see his true potential.

Whatever way you look at it, Conca has been beaten soundly in every game. I expect he will improve, but he doesn't look like having any chance at the rising star. Helbig doesn't find enough of it to get noticed although he has been good. Batchelor may be the best chance - looks like a pretty decent rebounding defender and if we actually get our stuff together then he might pull a few good 20+ possie games.

He kept Garlett to 7 touches and 2 goals (one was a direct result of Lids kicking it Garlett who was on the mark). If anything Conca had soundly beaten Garlett in his FIRST AFL game.
