Having a bit of a chime here but Rizz you have to get rid of that unsupporting Kangaroos to the gold coast picture you have. Kangaroos are an incredibly dirty team and should move as they ruin football in Victoria. Tell me you're happy with them copping hand-outs from the league left, right and centre.

VOTE 1: GET THE KANGAROOS OUT OF VICTORIA!!!!!

TC:eek:

You're a clown mate, why would you want to say goodbye to one of Victoria's most spirited clubs?

I don't know where you get all this most spirited club rubbish. The shinboner spirit is a myth and was exposed as such during this finals series. The club is a basket case and have done jack shit to rectify this situation over the past few years.

As Fitzroy found out, no amount of history guarantees a clubs survival. If the Kangaroos really were passionate about saving their club, they should have done something about it years ago. Perhaps their supporters should have signed up for memberships, or if they couldn't do that, perhaps they could have attended the odd game.

I will not provide the Kangaroos with blind support just because they are a Victorian team. The AFL is no longer the VFL, and the current number of clubs in Victoria is no longer feasible. The AFL has been indicating for a number of years that it is looking to expand the AFL further into SE Qld and West Sydney and relocation of the least economically feasible clubs from Victoria, who relied on handouts for survival was always going to be the way it was going to go.

The reason I am so passionate about this is that it could have quite easily been us. Who remembers the stand up and fight appeal. I bet I wasn't the only Geelong supporter to reach into my pocket and do my bit to keep the club afloat. Obviously a lot more went our way, but when the chips were down, we did our bit. The Kangaroos have waited until it is too late.

Whether you were in favour of the GC relocation or not Rizzo, it all means nothing now, as the Roos have refused to budge.

The AFL offered the Kangaroos a generous offer to keep their club alive, but the Kangaroos dug their feet in the ground like a stubborn mule and now their club will die. If they think the AFL will continue to support them financially when the anonymous donations dry up, they've got another thing coming.

But yeh, I'm with the OP. I don't know how you can side with the Roos. They've made their bed, and now they must sleep in it.

hahaha love it!! can i de appreciate myself haha :D

So I'm bad now because I think, no scratch that, I know

GEELONG>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>kangaroos :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

People is this a Geelong supporter forum or have I missed something?

Kangaroos are waste of space that should disappeared a looooong time ago.
It's good for the competition that we're finally getting rid of another under-performing welfare recipient deadwood.

The part that has me perplexed is that fact that their supporters aren't really supporting.

They did alright this last season in climbing the ladder and making it to the early stages of the finals.

Let the supporters put their money where their mouth is. If the club deserves to survive and the supporters are serious, this should become evident in the next few months as the memberships are taken up.

If not, they die. Too bad.

What pisses me off is other clubs supporters buying memberships for the Roos? Why would you give a flying ****? If their own supporters wont buy one, why should other clubs' supporters?

MmkMrMackie,

Sounds bizzar !

It's all over the boards... People who support other clubs buying kangaroos memberships (or saying they have) just because they don't want to see one of the old Melbourne clubs folding or relocating.

It is common knowledge that there are a lot of people who claim to be Roos supporters, but do not attend games and wont sign up for memberships. That's part of the reason they're up shit creek.

I don't get that either. It's none of my business if another club doesn't have the supporter base required to sustain itself, let things run its due course. It's inevitable that a club like north melbourne will fold anyway, really it's only option to remain in the comp it's to relocate.

So it can get massive amounts of AFL handouts, draft concessions and first dibs on local talent?

It bemuses me that people can be anti-North in this. I said it in the other thread and I'll say it in this: the push for the Gold Coast is a sad joke, another example of the AFL overriding what is good for the game and the supporters in order to achieve its vaguely imagined and poorly articulated vision of what the game should be. North might be a shit team with no facilities and a not-so-great list but they made a prelim. Wanna imagine what they'd be like if they relocated, that young talent fully matured and they get the weight of the AFL behind them? They'll turn into a superteam, reason enough to oppose the move quite apart from the stink the AFL's duplicity leaves.

Hmmmm I'm not sure what you're barking at but anyone with half a brain can see that it's inevitable that Gold Coast will have a football team in the not too distant future. I would put my house on it, it is that much of a sure thing.

It was just a question of whether the Kangaroos wanted to be a part of it and remain in the AFL. Just because the Kangaroos have been stupid enough (not a surprise really kanga fans are not know for their intellect) to turn the generous AFL offer down doesn't mean that plan has been derailed.

At the end of the day it's the kangas loss and the AFL will just patiently sit by watching a slow painful death and wipe their hands clean when they eventually go down.

It's a stroke of genius really, by going about it this way the AFL has absolved itself from any responsibility in regards to the kangaroos.

Then they can build one from scratch. I repeat: the Roos have a yound list and they made a prelim, they don't need the massive draft/salary cap concessions they would get from a move north. A new team would take some years to mature, even with the AFL doing everything possible to get them a flag.

Yeah, the generous offer that didn't even have a stadium behind it .

As for the plan being derailed....what plan? The AFL abandoned any semblance of what it had previously been aiming for in the biggest kneejerk reaction since the invasion of Iraq. The brain's trust seems to have thought 'ZOMG A-LEAGUE EXPANSION WILL KILL AUSSIE RULES FOREVER!!!!11111111' and exploded into action: their 'generous offer' was half-arsed and the talk of a 17th franchise downright embarrassing, little more than a scare tactic to get the Roos to move.

Yeah so they can bring in a ****ing franchise. How can anyone be happy about that? All you have to do is look at Southport's website to know that the death of the Roos and the induction of a Gold Coast team equals a 500% increase in w***ers in the AFL.

Exactly. Who cares if they go belly up - I don't. I think it would have been better for the national game had they gone to the GC. It seems incongruous to have a national competition then try and hold the Roos here kicking and screaming if they're not viable.

I feel sorry for North supporters, but only a little bit, because I wouldn't like it to be my team but other than that, I think they and we'd have been better off with them in the GC.

No it's just that I can't be arsed wasting my time discussing the kangaroos in detail, they're lame and so is anyone that supports and/or sticks up for them.
In other words: I can't defeat any of your arguments so I'll play the man and not the ball.
