I heard an interview that Robert Flower did on 3AK this morning with Greg Evans. Here are the main points that come across. Sorry if it does not flow, it is just the order in which they came out.
In terms of trying to comprimise, this ended when Joe went off and announced five candidates for a new board. He also stated categorically that he would not stand unless elected as President. After this Team Vision believed it was beyond mediation.
If Flower is elected to the board with Melbourne First he will not serve due to wanting unity and stability.
The main aims of Team Vision
2 premierships by 2010
40000 members
financial stability
Joseph Gutnick has had five years to implement changes and not much change has taken place.
He believes Team Vision has great expertise to achieve its goals.
On the issue of having a strong leader and standing up to the AFL. Team Vision would have a more consultative approach. But there are certain issues that we must stand up and fight for whilst other times it is best to work with the AFL to achieve the best result.
On Melbourne's draw, remembering Flower is not yet on the board, The Club has been in contact with the AFL regarding circumstances.
In terms of the rank'nfile supporters supprt for Team Vision has been varied.
This is not a merger issue. It is not considered. They guaranteed that IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Joe's money: terrific contributer in that regard and he should be recognised for that and some other things he has implemented. But they are looking for unity and stability
Gutnick was offered an interview on the show but declined.
That is what Flower said. My views on the issue did not affect what was written here.
