Now that we've taken him in the draft, what position has he usually filled? I have heard some members of the Port board talking of him as a possible tagger but I thought I'd ask the people who should know.

And why was he delisted? Was he not developing or just surplus to requirements?

He is a tagger/onballer....can play back. Played his junior footy as a running half back flanker. The kid has got a lot of heart and will do the job. He might end up playing as a back pocket for port.

There was no spot for him at essendon. We already had peverill and there wasn't room for another defensive midfielder. He is 22 next year so he has plenty of footy in him if he can find his niche at Port.

He's been used in negating roles: Either through the middle as a run-with, or as a BP or HBF. Lacks the explosiveness and genuine class to be a top notch on-baller, although he can pick up a lot of disposals in a hurry if let loose. He's basically an honest toiler, an old fashioned ruck-rover.

Why was he delisted? Firstly, his spot in the backline was taken by Andrew Welsh. He basically had fallen in the pecking order. He was a bit unlucky, he was a regularly solid contributor in the VFL, and in the one game he played (on a Sunday, one day after playing a full game for Bendigo) he picked up 15 possessions in one half, and kept Daniel Kerr quiet. But I think he was just seen as having had his chance, never really nailing a spot, and more talented kids were coming on to the list.

I've always seen him as more of a Bomber Thompson type Back Pocket or Half Back Flanker. Don't think he will cut it in the midfield. I've always thought he was slowish which is why I was surprised when he represented us at the Grand Final Sprint a couple of years back.

Was in the end surplus to Essendon's requirements, but, not for the lack of effort. He seemed to give his all in each match (as opposed to a James Davies).

As marcuz mentioned, he was mainly a tagger/on-baller. He could certainly be used off a half-back flank or a back pocket as well. Will do well at Port I have no doubt.

No right side, very ordinary on his preferred kicking leg as it is. He is nothing more than an honest goer. No loss.
