The article suggests that he is retrospectively trying to justify that he was right all along (in his part in selecting the coach ). He is just plain wrong when he describes Saints midfield as being downhill skiers.

He is trying to use the Saints to promote how fiendishly clever he is. :D

The actual case is that the Saints used HIM to help legitimise their selection of their coach.

After a good start (in the relationship the club, and Lyon specifically, with the media), the Saints started getting bad press. Lyon's lack of forthright disclosure and the Saints' habit of dishonest early team information was brought to the fore by a disgruntled Mike Sheahan.

The Saints were performing disappointingly on the field. To many, the Sheedy-like indulgences were just not justified by a newbie coach, and the tide of public opinion began to turn.

The Saints have continued to win (with the exception of one really insipid quarter against Collingwood) and together with a freer disclosure come Thursday nights - this has prevented any accumulation of ill-feeling that had begun.

Now Walls, after possibly feeling as if his nose had been put out re: coach selection for the Saints, has felt the need to puff his chest out and say "Look how clever I was all along!"

His assertion that our midfielders were downhill skiers is his perception only and bears no relationship with fact or obvious evidence per replays.

Just check out Luke Ball's, Lenny Hayes', Leigh Montagna's and even Nick Dal Santo's tackling stats. That information alone is enough to set you right.

It appears that this is just another one of those cases where he says: "I didn't watch the matches, but ..."
