I posted this on the main board, interested in cats fans response as well.

... with no idea about anything remotely close to football. I hate Walls because he always makes the obvious comments that anyone could make, and also (more importantly) refuses to rate cats, and hasnt for past 10 years. He wrote a big article in saturdays paper about geelong, the last paragraph being

"Should Geelong beat the Bombers tonight, it will be time to sit up and take notice. If the Cats don't, defeat will confirm what most people think. And that is that they are still just a middle-of-the-road side."

First of all, thats pretty harsh given that essendon are supposedly a top 4 side and we played them at their home ground. Anyway, after we beat essendon, on the couch he says he still doesnt rate us, because they didnt have hird and hird is worth 4 goals. He knew they wouldnt have hird when he wrote his stupid article on Saturday.

Moving on, he said he will only rate us if we beat saints, brisbane in brisbane, or melb at the g. Besides beating melb at the g, other 2 scenarios have been imposssible so far this season. No one has beaten saints since we have (rd 22 '03), also came very close to winning in wiz cup, we also have already beaten melb. He rates essendon as top4, and we beat them on their home soil.

Now, i'm still not convinced about us yet this year, we could be overperforming so far, its too early to tell. All i wanna say is how can anyone respect what he says, when he is just a ****head who goes back on what he originally says.

Does anyone respect him or what he has to say?

I generally value walls' opinions.

Obviously, being controversial is his 'thing' and it's how he makes his $$$, but I still think he is on the money most of the time.

I did however think it was a bit rich when he said tonight that he has not rated us for 10 years.

Considering we played in the 94 & 95 grand finals that is a pretty stupid call IMHO.

That would be about the time we beat his Carrara Koalas and his old team's record in scoring 239. Longest period of sour-grapes ever?

First of all no team over performs....they play to their ability.

Robert Walls is so negative towards just about every club except St. Kilda....If the cats win next week he still won't praise them. The Cats can't win in this case....

It couldn't happen to a "nicer" bloke, being the coach of the team who had the highest score kicked against him!

And it was actually the return match at Kardinia Park later on in the 1992 season when I lost all respect for Robert Walls as a football person, because he sent his pathetic Brisbane Bears side out with instructions to belt our players off the ball and take cheap shots because he knew they couldn't beat us. Perhaps we should have expected as much... after all, he did instruct his players to bash up another of his players, (Stremple) while coaching Brisbane in the early 90's.

I endure him on the tv and radio, but couldn't care less what he says about our club. Didn't he pick us to win the wooden spoon this year? Just goes to show what he really knows.

I also think that the Cats still have a way to go before I could say with confidence that they have the goods to be gun side. Walls is paid to make comments and have opinions not to appease supporters feelings. His points may be negative but they are also valid. We were capable two years ago of putting streaks together, are we a better side now? I think yes but can we do it when we start to lose players to injury or lack of form to player who we cant replace. We have beaten quality the last 2 weeks but one could also say they were due for a loss after winning 6 straight. The question is,are we just playing at the peak of our form or have started show real improvement and are raising ourselves to a new quality level. We have progressed but I have doubts that we should gauge ourselves on our best efforts or worst efforts. Could one expect Kingsley to kick 7.0 every week?

If the Cats keep playing to Sat Nights level then just like the Saints there will be a recognition of a new status that will undeniable, even for Walls

Sure did, and is too afraid to swallow his pride.

Robert Walls is an absolute clown! He has never given Geelong any credit and everything that comes out of his mouth is either really obvious or he's just trying to hard to be controversial.
