Tiger David Rodan has undergone surgery to repair the ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, and will now begin rehabilitation following his injury in a practice match in Morwell on Saturday.
Rodan went under the knife at Vimy House in Kew on Monday, and the operation, performed by Dr Hayden Morris, was deemed to be successful.
The 21-year-old forward/midfielder was in a pack of players when he heard his knee pop in the final stages of the match against the Bombers. Rodan's injury soured the Tigers' 72-point triumph.
He will be discharged from hospital on Tuesday and is expected to spend the season on the sidelines.
Rodan has played 60 senior matches since his debut in 2002, but now joins fellow pre-season casualty Jay Schulz.
Schulz fractured an ankle in the club's Wizard Home Loans Cup opener against Collingwood and will be sidelined for up to 10 weeks.
