AFL plays rough over MCG deal

THE AFL has stepped up its reprisals over the Melbourne Cricket Club's reluctance to end the preliminary-final stand-off by scheduling more low-drawing matches at the MCG in next year's fixture list.
For the third year in succession, the AFL will give the MCG the bare minimum of 41 home-and-away games as stipulated under the league's 40-year contract with the cricket club.
In a direct reprisal against the MCC's recent reluctance to change the contract that insists at least one preliminary final each year is played at the MCG, even if hosted by a non-Victorian club, the league has scheduled Carlton to play home games against low-drawing interstate clubs Fremantle and Port Adelaide at the venue in 2005
Can the clubs please do something to stop this sort of blackmail from happening. The only clubs that this is hurting are the member clubs that see the MCG as home.
With both ourselves and Hawthorn being entrenched in the bottom half of the eight we will be most affected by this sort of rubbish. This does not hurt the MCC only Richmond, North and Hawthorn. When we put forward your request to the afl for fixture plans can we please have "a dont play home games at Telstra Dome against its tennants" put in there this equates to the same as Melb selling home games to Brissie.
I know finacially it is possibly prudent, but I am sick of the same thing every year.
Ohh ahh, interstate team has the right to have game at home, offer MCC money, they turn it down , next year punish MCC by not scheduling games there , pay of clubs, but the club looses its home ground advantage (what little we have).
Isnt that what the argument was the previous year about, a clubs right to host a game.
I mailed the club, the aflf, SEN, 3AW, Channel 9, Channel 7 and Fox Footy hopefully someone may pick this up and at least mention it. I still beleive that the only people being hurt are the members/fans of the tenant clubs. Not the MCC, Clubs or the AFL.
