Mixed views on Eade amongst Swans fans.

I thought he was a very good coach. One of the best match day tacticians in the past few years, and openly acknowledged as that by other coaches.

Toward the end he seemed to lose his players. Seemed a bit of a hard task master, requiring very tight co-operation with the game plan and little freedom to do otherwise, punishing mistakes quickly and harshly, and delivering sprays quite often.

In his next go as coach I suspect that he would ease up on these things a bit. Experience helps with these matters.

There was also a lot of criticism that he did not give the young players a good enough go. However, plenty of young players were able to get a start under Eade and are doing quite well now. Their on-field time was mixed though, partly because of the some of the issues above. He also had the pressure of maintaining a good winning record, which left him in a difficult position with regard to playing too many inexperienced players.

His record at the Swans was very good and I think he would be a fine coach anywhere he went.

Agreed with bloods. Was a bit harsh on young players but the ones that he did let through are amongst the best for us now, such as jude bolton, fosdike and james. I reckon he'll definitely improve his weaknesses from what he learnt in his last days as our coach.

On another note, he might drain a bit of money from Richmond in terms of phones in the coaches box. He does have a record of being violent on them.

Mixing Richmond supporters with Rodney Eade is like fire with gunpowder.

It would certainly make for some interesting after-game remonstrations if he loses games ;)

I'm a Saints supporter, but I've lived in Sydney most of my life. I'm a Sydney fan too, albeit 80/20...so yeah, don't let the name fool you.

I'm confident Eade will do well at Richmond. He was a good coach with the Swans, and left a bit too early, I think. They weren't even in that bad a position on the ladder - not even people like Peter Schwab were gone up until now or Danny Frawley until the end of the season, so I think it was a bad decision to go. He did plenty more good than bad.

I'd like to see him do well, at least. Alot of Sydney fans say that he was bad and stuff, just because of that last year he coached...so I'd like to see him do well at Richmond just to prove he's a good coach and that it wasn't (entirely) his fault for the Swans' lowish position in the ladder that year.

Eade was a good coach, i just think his time was up at the swans

i think he'll go well if he gets a position
