????????????????????
hey guys... dunno if any of you would have any info or pics of Rod Wright who played in #19 for melbourne in the early 80's???

it would be great if you would be able to help me find some stuff or if you could point me in the right direction...

thanks guys...

Rodney Wright: D.O.B. 29/12/59, HT 181, WT 74 Games at the end of 82 22, Goals at the end of 82 14, Recruited from Olympic Youth.

He ended that season at North Melbourne & i'm pretty sure he played at Melbourne in 83 & possibly in 84. From memory he was used off the bench most weeks for Melbourne.

Got this info from the 1983 V.F.L. Year Book with Flower,Blight & Matthews on the cover. The next one I have is an 87 one which says...

Rodney Wright : Debut 1980, DOB 29/12/60??? Height & weight are the same, games in 86, 2 Total 54, Goals in 86 0 Total 18, Club from Melbourne??? I didn't realise he'd played after 1984 for us so there you go... He wasn't on our list in 1987. Might've gone to the VFA, possibly Springvale but that's just a guess.

Just a few years before my time.

Your best bet would be an old collector card/memorabillia store. There used to be an awesome one on Flinders Lane that sold old footy records, badges and older stuff, but I think they've closed up now. It could be worth a shot. I doubt you'll find much on the net.

According to "The Complete Book Of AFL Finals" A Wright kicked 4 goals for North in the 1980 Elimination Final, he was also named in thier best. It may however be a missprint as it could be a mix up with Wilson who in the text was said to have kicked 4 goals & was named twice in North's goal kickers, meaning Wright may have kcked only 1 but it would appear he played that day. North lost to Collingwood that day and quite a few future Dees stars played in that game at the MCG.

Peter Moore, Allan Jarrot, Brian Wilson & probably Xavier Tanner.

Damn BT, you got too much time on your hands to be doing so much research! :D ;)
