I recall Roger was the only addition to our list following the 1977 triumph, so he must have had something. I think he was from Sunbury. Probably it was a matter of opportunity as he would have been competing against some talented team mates in his weight division, most of them still at the top of their game.

Agree though. Very hard team to break into but had a little bit of flair.
Seem to remember popped in and out of the side like D. Schimmelbusch and R. Briedis. We had a very good 2nds side in those days too.
