Another Adelaide Crow has retired, with goalsneak Ronnie Burns quitting the AFL.

Burns, formerly of Geelong, had planned to retire at the end of the season but decided to end his career immediately because of a rib injury.

He becomes the third Adelaide player to retire this season, following Wayne Carey and Nigel Smart.

Burns, 31, kicked 239 goals in 134 games for Geelong before being recruited to Adelaide in 2003.

He played 20 games for the Crows, booting 23 goals, but was overlooked for selection since round six this year.

does this mean we dont need to cut three players at the end of the year ?

yes, this was reported in the media weeks ago. I guess he has finally made it "official".

So that's both of the dynamic duo that were going to win the 2003 premiership for the AFC retired and the architect of that cunning plan sacked all in a couple of months.

Although i knew it was inevitable, would have liked to have seen a bit more of the Burns magic before he finished.

You guys didn't see much of him, but he was excitement personified when he played for us. Highly unpredictable, but bloody good to watch.

He did play some thrilling games for us last year. Before he went off against Brisbane he was simply electric in the forward line and if he hadn't hurt his ankle I think we would have won, he was tearing their defence to shreds.

He was on fire that night :) but sadly we didn't see much more of the Burns magic after that night.

Enjoy your retirement Ronnie & may you catch the big one.
