Just wondering how the order works for rookies and who gets to pick first. How many players do you think the swans should rookie list and who, would absolutly love to see Ed Clarke come, been compared to Moore but is alot bigger

Alot bigger thats for sure, and Moore is pretty well built!

I am sure that we can nominate 3 rookies from NSW then add 5 from the rookie draft??

therefore im sure roos will nominate Troy Bartlett, Ed Clarke and Earl Shaw as our NSW nominated rookies

so do we automatically get the 3 nsw rookies, thats a bit weird because how do the vics get to nominate there automatic rookies, so we are in front position to get Ed Clarke cause ive seen him and he is a superstaar

They don't - this is the one remaining draft concession for Sydney and Brisbane and is designed to give local boys more chance of a route onto an AFL list.

Is it 2 or 3 we can pre-nominate? I think it's 3

Anyway - assuming it's 3, those three (most likely Clarke, Shaw and Bartlett) are nominated as our choices prior to the draft, then we use our last 3 picks on them.
We can take a total of 6 rookies, so we have 3 'live' picks in the draft as well.

So basically we'll have Nick Potter who was left over from last year, Shaw, Bartlett and Clarke as our NSW picks and three others which should include Josh Thewlis and two others.

oh yeah - I forgot Potter - means we only have 2 live picks in the rookie draft then

<edit>Whoops - I stuffed up again! Now that Matthew Nicks is on the veterans list outside the primary list, that's one less rookie we can take - So it will be Potter, the 3 NSW boys, and one other</edit>

I believe that our 3 NSW boys are allowed in addition to the normal 6 rookie quota (adjusted for vets), though the Swans have never taken advantage of this.

I wonder whether Clarke is a monty for the Swans rookie list. On the face of it he seems worthy of a spot but with both Moore and Schmidt as bigger bodied centremen already on the list, you have to wonder whether they might look to take an extra tall or two.
