Rookies

Apart from Toovey, Taggart and Seal, the only draft camp attendees from WA who missed out being drafted, are there any other likely rookies to be named December 10? If Stribling is one then another small, eg. Seal, may be unlikely.

Toovey training at Collingwood so expect him to be gone by the time Dockers get a pick.

We have two rookie spots up for grabs and we have Stribling and Duffield still training with us, so I would expect Freo to take those two guys in the rookie draft. Hopefully Duffield with the first pick and if someone else takes Stribling before we have our second pick, and we have to pay him out... well so be it.

Just as an aside - I actually find it quite silly that a club can upgrade a rookie listed player to the main list at the end of a season, but they can not downgrade a player from the senior list to the rookie list. In the case of Stribling for example, the club has assessed him as not likely to be ready for senior football for a couple of years, yet they think he's probably worth hanging onto as a rookie for that length of time. Why - if he's already a listed player, can they not "demote" him to rookie status, but keep him as a Freo player. As long as they continue to pay him as per the terms of his contract, why can they not keep him at the club, but stick him on the rookie list to develop for a couple of years...

Good point IP, hard to fathom if they are still getting paid the agreed amount on the signed contract.

I'll throw in my favourite chestnut, up the minimum draft age at least 12 months.
