from the swans website: "Roos admitted midfield tagger Luke Ablett, who had the flu, shouldn't have played against the Eagles".

then why the hell did he... once again, another case of playing sick or injured players, when their are others who can step in (ie: Buchanan). They should have one of those wildlife numbers up on the score board. If you see a sick or injured swan, please call this number. The switchboard would be jammed.

I wonder when they actually found out Ablett had the flu and at that stage if they knew whether Kennelly and Hall were playing. Buchanan and Laidlaw should have been emergencies.

It was mentioned the other day that all the team apart from I believe Ablett and Schneider went swimming in the ocean in perth while those to sat in a nearby cafe drinking coffee cause they were ill. I think that was Friday!

i couldnt beleive buchanan didnt play. i mean grundy....vogels......

buchanan is a good player and generally plays well against west coast, i was pretty happy to see that he didnt play.

is it a discipline thing? or form?

Don't think it is discipline. He was dropped to the twos a few weeks ago after a string of ordinary games - my theory is that he's been struggling to get over a few injuries earlier in the year. He played one week and was pretty good without being brilliant, but then 10 days ago pulled out of the reserves game late, complaining of general soreness. So given that he hadn't played the weekend before and hadn't been in great form, it was hardly surprising he wasn't included in the squad for the Eagles game.

He did rack up 48 possessions and 7 goals on Saturday afternoon though - so very likely to return to senior action this weekend.

agreed re Buchanon carrying injuries before getting dropped. But a 48 possie game suggests he's ready to come back into the firsts.
Was watching Laidlaw's debut v the cats on my laptop this week. He actually had a very impressive game apart from shanking his set shot out on the full. I hope they give him another game in the 1s soon.
