APPARENTLY the great man will take over James Hird's role On the Couch next season.

A fantastic move. Probably the best footy panel show is now boosted by the one of the best footy blokes (and footy minds).

It was in the Herald Sun today in an article about James Hird coaching Essendon.

I was about to make the same thread.

I've not watched the show in years but if Roosey takes up a regular spot i will sure to watch it every week. The guy is an absolute legend and as interesting as they come.

and funny. I stay away from those shows because i generally can't stand the character of most people in the footy media. Roos will raise the bar significantly.

Awesome. :thumbsu:

So does this mean 22 weeks of non-stop questions, badgering him to leave retirement and start coaching *insert name of struggling Victorian team here* until finally he relents - Hird style? :D

i liked james hird on on the couch....but roosy one there is 10x better, to finally have someone affiliated to the swans on that show would be awesome...i'm sick of these shows being vic dominated... finally we'll get some coverage... it's the perfect appointment with GWS coming in as well...more exposure to sydney

Remind me who Gerard Healy played for and won a Brownlow Medal with again? On The Couch has had someone affilated to the Swans since it began in 2002, now its 2 out of 3;)

Exactly you beat me to it. It is the one footy show that most people like and now it will be nearly 3 out of 3 as Sheahan does have a soft spot for the Bloods.

I don't really count Healy as it was Sheahan/Hird who made a majority of the comments, I always found the on the couch was more swan friendly than the other footy shows, but to have Roosy there actually taking up a decent portion of the talk time would make it more so
