If the Demons priority pick were on the table what/who would you trade in order to gain access to a youngster like Petracca who may be available at Melbourne's pick 3? Roos maybe wants experienced players to shore up his list but we too are in need of level heads so would you trade say Brown/Elliott/Fasolo or a package of players to get in early on this draft? Should we settle on developing our current crop (+Moore) or really go for it and load up on highly talented youth with an eye on a premiership or two in 2017/18 and beyond?

Melbourne could possibly finish with the number 1 pick, but most likely pick 2, so mccartin or petracca are most likely at these two picks, Melbourne would most likely want beams or sidebottom plus some draft picks or a package of elliot and other requires players, i dont see us trading away players that are still very important towards a push to our next flag

Reckon GWS will be in the box seat for this. They're very keen on Petrecca by all accounts, and will want to move up the order. They offer their pick 4 or 5 plus one of their promising young fringe players. Melbourne take Wright and Durdin and their new 21 year old mid, and are happy with their lot.

Don't see that we can, or should, try to compete with that.

Dees won't trade the pick for just a player. They'll want a player and pick like they did with Dom Tyson last year.

I.e. They keep pick 2, trade pick 3 and pick 22 to team X for pick 8 + very good player.

E.g. (Note: proposed value of player not considered)

Dees trade pick 3 and pick 22 to Richmond for pick 10 and Alex Rance.

Melbourne are a bunch of muppets, they are helping a side which they should be competing against due to their youth and similar stage of development.

They will still find a way to stuff this up.

What about this as an option... Nate Brown plus our first round pick (8) for their Pick 2. They get a key defender which they'll need after Frawley (albeit Brown is injury prone) plus another first round pick in addition to retaining their pick 3.

We pick up Petracca with first round pick and trust St.Kilda not to bid for Moore and we pick him with second round.

Father son bidding happens before the trade period so no, this ain't happening.

I'd be all over that but it just won't happen. Not a chance we're going to be able to get Moore in the second round unless some very strange things go on around draft/trade time. If it were possible though, bring it on.
Add Frawley via FA to cover the loss of Brown and that's be a dream draft/trade scenario. Petracca will be an absolute weapon IMO. Be a massive shame to see him at GWS, would be a thing of beauty seeing him alongside, Pendles, Beams, Scharenberg, Freeman and Sidey... One can dream...

How can Melbourne deserve a priority pick.
The AFL basically gave them Paul "The Super Coach" Roos to get them out of there predicament.
Early in the year, when they knocked of the Crows in Adelaide and ran the Power all the way, everyone was saying WOW, Roos is the messiah.
Now they lose a few games badly at the end of the year, they automatically go to the AFL with their bowl out saying "Please Sir, May I have some more?"
heck them I say.
They have had enough early draft picks in the last few years to be able to build a nucleus of a decent side.
GO AND F#*K yourself Roos.
Learn how to build a side without handouts or COLA expenses,
After all.
YOU ARE THE SUPER COACH.

I'm getting sick of GWS trading up to get higher picks. They have enough kids ffs.
Your displeasure of the status quo will be considered and tossed aside, thanks for your opinion.

Elliott = untouchable

I'd trade fasolo and keeffe but they'd probably decline
I'd offer our first pick and lumumba but they'd probably decline
Fasolo for Buntine or Smith or GWS.

Toby Greene is another I'd take given his off field antics we probably wont touch him because Buckley might not be able to handle him.

If we end up with pick 7 I think there's so many variables that could result in us getting Moore for a second rounder and having a crack at pick 1 who's name will be called our Christian Petracca.

Also, WC, GC or Bris won't go near Darcy Moore. Massive risk for nominating him, our only concern is Carltank and the Dogs.

And Boyd is on the market.

The odds of us getting Darcy Moore for a second rounder are growing IMO.

If Melbourne get a priority pick then use it to nominate Darcy Moore I would be livid.

There would be so, so, so, so much wrong with this for obvious reasons.

If we picked up beams or sidey for a number 1 draft pick back in the day how would it be rated? 100% success imo. Why would we trade one of those 2 for the possibility of maybe getting someone as good.

I would offer reid and maybe a sweetner but nothing serious.

Let's just raid gws... Coniglio, smith, buntine, o'rourke. Let's get one of them.. Or all who knows!
Greene reminds me too much of what we already have, players who can find the ball but do nothing with it
