I went to the game today, and I haven't seen a replay at all, but I don't know how on Earth Rory Sloane wasn't considered in the best players on the afl.com website report

He is a gun and a half and hee should be made captain.... Danger is great, but Sloane is captain material

His offensive output today wasn't as high as some other games, but his defensive pressure, from my vantage point of level 3 at Docklands stadium, was a major factor in the Crows' win today

All hail Rory

If it was possible to clone 15 Rory Sloanes, and mix them with a Danger, Tex and Smith combo, Adelaide would win the next 5 flags..

I f(cking love this guy, and I've never even met him

yes he was brilliant today much more so than his DT/SC stats would suggest. his pressure and ability in the contests absolutely kept us alive today.

I thought the same thing. Watched on tv and he just saves the day, no mention of him. That smother was critical. And his intercepting and captains goal. The guys a gun! Perfect captain I think

I had a much better view from right behind the Crows interchange bench and everything you said was correct. I had a close eye on him myself and the amount of gut running both ways he does is second to none. He is an elite runner and will bust his gut to make a contest. 4-5 times he was able to jump over packs and force a spoil when the opposition was a certainly to take a mark and goal in the last 5-10 minutes was what won us the game. Not only did he make it in time to make the spoil, but he also followed up and was able to A(either hold the ball in to force a ball up or B(tackle his opponent to lock the ball in for another stoppage.

There was a wonderful moment in the last quarter after one Bulldogs player marked just outside the 50 against Jaensch who was quite poor - Then the Bulldogs player (sorry, can't remember who it was... I'm drunk) kicked it across the ground and Rory came from nowhere to affect the spoil and cause a ball up -

Someone behind me in the crowd yelled out "THAT'S HOW YOU DEFEND, JAENSCH YOU SPUD - TAKE NOTE" -- or something close

I agreed - I felt like the guy who yelled may have been a bigfoooty poster with that language - but made an salient point

He was amazing in the last quarter, though to be honest I would like him to get more of the ball.

Like I said, his offensive output today certainly wasn't anywhere near his best - But his defensive efforts, in my humble opinion, was a major factor in our win - -

I honestly left the ground today thinking he was our BOG and couldn't believe that AFL.COM didn't even have him in the best players - They had Crouch in there.. I mean, he did ok, but was pedestrian compared to Sloane

The smother meant the game was over...

It's why I love coming on here becaus real suporters get involved .

Killed it when it mattered.. danger went nuts aswll but apparently he can't do sheet against anyone but kids so maybe drop?

Sloane is our Selwood and Danger is our stevie J.

only Sloane has a better personality and a better runner and danger can actually play inside as well.

That was me..... yelling from WA

What a champion, that goal he kicked was just unreal in the last quarter, got the whole team up and going

All of our younger midfielders should watch his tape during the week, he is a gun because he never gives up, something that is in the player's control.

The best part of his game are the marks going back with the flight in defence, lifts the whole team

As per usual you couldn't keep him out of the game. Was trying hard but not having any impact. When he's having a down day he always bobs up for one quarter.

Although he has been one of our best if not the best this year, he still goes quiet for parts of games. Would love to see him iron out that inconsistency. Would go close to a Brownlow.

Love this thread, you guys have pretty much summed it all up already. His one %'ers were outstanding today (spoils, pressure, smothers etc.) and I don't know why the club didn't reward him a spot in the best players for them!?

Sorry but I have to disagree.. take the bias out of it selwood can play both but he's a free whore. And Stevie j has 2x the skill of them

Agree with everything said, yes we would all like to see Sloane racking up 30 disposals and getting into it a little more offensively but his defensive work and work in the 1 on 1's or even 2 on 1's is close to the best in our team. Make him captain.

I love Sloane, and obviously think he needs to be around the contest when it counts, but I'd like to see him on the HBF.

Would probably get even more of the ball, has an amazing footy brain of when to attack vs defend, would take countless courageous saving marks, would provide the leadership we clearly need back there, and he would run run run!

Could easily swing into the middle every now and then when we need it.
