Prediction Round 10, 2024: Changes vs Melbourne

Remove this Banner Ad

Out: Gov, Petch (inj), Darling (susp)
In: Hedwards, Culley, Waterman

Sub: Chesser or Ledwards

Emergencies: Gaff, Hall, whoever else played well yesterday (anyone?)

Culley deserves a callup, and we need a bigger body in the middle.

Waterman straight swap for Darling who I reckon will get a week for knocking out Bytel, even though it wasn’t really a bump.

Edwards in for Gov even though he apparently had a stinker, not much choice there.

Good thing there’s no WAFL next week because we’d be down to about five AFL players again.
We need speed in the midfield, not necessarily a bigger body.

McGovern and Petruccelle expected outs due to injury

Darling also if the chocolate wheel doesn’t spin his way. Personally think there was nothing in it and was surprised to see some thinking he might miss

Waterman a chance to return but Yeo would be doubtful. Trew might also be over his concussion but based on selection history and that it’s now been 3 weeks since he last played he’d be a long shot

Didn’t watch the WAFL games not sure if there’s anyone worthy of a promotion other than perhaps Culley who seems to have had a solid game

Harry Edwards, undeserving as it may be, is the obvious like for like replacement for McGovern but Jones would be an option pending matchups

Waterman to replace Petruccelle even though that deprives us of some speed

After forced changes that would leave us with

Defenders : Barrass, HEdwards, Rotham, Witherden, Duggan, Hough, Cole
Ruck/Forwards : Williams x2
Mids : Kelly, Sheed, Hunt, Reid, Ginbey, Chesser
Forwards : Waterman, Darling, Maric, Cripps, Ryan, Dewar, LEdwards

Possible unforced changes
Culley for Sheed to rotate with Edwards through midfield and HF

Johnston in for a full game then play Edwards or Culley as sub or push Hunt back and have Jones as sub

Simpson said in his press conference that Dewar will play again next week and we are being patient with Ryan so those two will both play

Far out, that's incredible patience with Ryan. I bet Johnston must love being made sub because we're happy to tolerate Ryan not touching it once in the first half.

Simmo said Jake didn't hurt his hammy.
Was only in the concussion protocol, so imagine he'd be a certainty for next week.

Would love to play a bottom 4 side soon.
Seems just about every game is against a top 8 side.

Played 8 of the top 11 sides, and only 1 of the other 6 sides in the bottom 7

Next week we have Melbourne, which will then make it 9 of the top 11 sides in our first ten matches of the season.

Edwards for Gov.

Yeo probably won't play.

Darling should be fine on first look (haven't seen replay).

Waterman hopefully an in though.

Keep Dewar or Johnstone for Petruccelle.

Culley to play, but I am not sure if he is a mid or a fwd (in the coaches eyes).

Simpson wasn’t definitive but it sounded like Yeo is more likely to play than not next week.

EDWARDS is a slow hack defensively is not good enough and unlike his farther is soft

Culley is just slightly faster is contested and offers some size and physicality which we need

Sheed another player that is useless

Chesser i wouldn't mind in defence

Maybe let hunt play wing, also let hunt in some centre bounces now we have lost Petch to give us burst speed

Duggan probably needs to play more in the mids as well

yup how the F**k can a team that finished last have such a hard draw as that

its criminal....along with the daybreaks for teams coming to play us over here in the west

You just cannot compete its wrong

Melbourne don’t have an overly tall forward line (even less so with JVR out), so with Gov presumably out, it may be an opportunity to try Maric as an interceptor/distributor off halfback with Waterman taking his spot up forward.

Yeo straight swap for Petch if he is fit/Petch isn’t, and Culley for Sheed.

Maric hasn't get go the body awareness to defend well.

Unsure how the WAFL went for him but HEdwards was very good against Gold Coast and was almost unlucky to go out (albeit very naturally he did to make way for a returning TB).

Wouldn’t find it undeserving to honest - was he cooked in the Beagles this week?

I hope not. With his track history of groin problems I hope we keep him out of the side for at least another 2 weeks to make sure he is 100% cherry ripe.

Dont need to rush Yeo back for another likely bollocking, only to see him blow his dick off and land on the LTI list.

In: H.Edwards, Yeo, Waterman
Alternative is swap H.Edwards for Culley/Hall/Burgiel and put Ryan/Maric/Ginbey at half back depending on how many talls the Dees bring
Also one of those 3 for Darling if hes out for a bit.

If Yeo is fit, im all for bringing him back on limited minutes. Hes been between 65-75% game time all year so far, keep him closer to the 60-65% and let him loose. All our mids play better when hes in there, its not just about getting a win, its better development opportunity. The dees have a strong contested midfield, he'd be very handy.
