Round 15 1982

Had a flashback to this game. It was my very first experience of watching footy live. I had been brought up in Canberra following Rugby League and had been gradually won to footy and the Tigers. We played Hawthorn and they beat us in a shoot-out.

I remember being impressed by the Richmond cheer squad but ambivalent about the way they reacted to the defeat - chanting "We're on top of the ladder."

That was 1982. We lost the GF and the rest is history. Hawthorn, on the other hand, had a rather good decade in store for them.

Would be nice for history to repeat. If Hawthorn make the GF (and we don't) someone should hire a stripper to do a streak.

Somehow I think if we won a GF, having a stripper do a streak will be the last of the problems. Can see parties and dancing in the street, over turned cars, flares going off - Melbourne will be painted in yellow and black
