Re: Gillies - playing this week

Harley Out, Gillies in.

Source = My mate who works at the torquay pub who spoke to a mate of Toms who he gets along with quite well. Didn't say the reason why he just said Tommy wasn't playing

Re: Gillies - playing this week

Great news if Gillies is playing.

Is it true that a car load of GFC supporters stormed the club this afternoon and hunted down Kane Tenace ? I heard there was an ambulance called to the club soon after and a player bearing a striking resemblance to ane Tenace was taken to hospital with injuries sustained by excessive use of a baseball bat and a lump of 4x2 timber.

Allegedly

Apparently those responsible are being sought out by the authorities. I believe the mayor wants to award them the keys to the city in a civic ceremony sometime early next week. :D

Cannot believe the selection of Tenace again - when it is clear he will not be progressing much further at Geelong. Give someone else a go. Yes good to see Gillies will be playing - but let us all hope Scarlett plays. Gillies, at this point in time, would be better suited to a backline with Scarlett at FB and Taylor at CHB, allowing him to take the third tall forward.

I am also puzzled with Lonergan being selected in the firsts - unless he is going to replace Blake in the ruck ??? Is this possible ? Mumford is not fit enough yet to carry the workload of playing 100 % of the time on the park - so I figure Lonergan must be the other tall option Geelong have besides Hawkins (and maybe Mooney) and will fill in for Blake.

I found it interesting that Balmey said in the Ablettiser that Mumford will have assistance in the ruck this week, but he couldn't say who would be helping him. Sounds to me like there could be a late change with West a late inclusion.

think it's great that Lonergan and Tenace are being given another chance. Last week they were on a hiding to nothing...

Athough Lonergan copped a touch up first game back, taking John Brown was a tough assignment, but funny thing I think he's up to it if they give him a chance to settle into a defensive role.
One thing is for sure he hates getting beaten, the facial expressions said it all, he was sincere in his disappointment and visably upset.

Hope Trent West is selected, think they'd have to have 2 ruckman, going 1 out kills them, just look at Josh Fraser, you couldn't expect young Mumford to go all day, he'd burn out by half time.

I reckon West will be a late inclusion.

If not, the 2nd ruck duties will be shared among several players: Lonergan, Taylor, Mooney, Hawkins and possibly Corey although he usually goes third man up.

I would rather Tenace than blake in the team

I wouldn't. Blake is pretty good at his main role, ie. hitouts, but struggles around the ground. Tenace however is good for nothing. His disposal efficiency last week was 46%, which is abysmal for an AFL player. The only thing he brings to the table is pace, which he rarely shows anyway. What good is it if you sprint down the wing, take three bounces, then kick it over the head of the leading forward straight to his opponent?

Hey, winty, that's an awesome sig. Only just noticed :)

Where is it from?

Lonergan and Taylor will take on second ruck duties

That scares me on soo many levels.

I have a feeling we'll get smashed in the ruck all day, however we may beat them around the ground.... who knows?

Silly move in my opinion.

On a side note, how did blake and west go in the seconds?

its obviously a good time to try some different things, against the bottom side at home. i'm not entirely convinced with the idea of one specialist ruckman, but Blake just isnt progressing and we need to come up with some plans should ottens not make it back.
