Last time they played:

Why Carlton will win:

Weitering put on a clinic last week and now has support from Liam Jones who returns. Williams is on fire and the inclusion of Fisher will inject pace in their line-up. McKay has established himself as an attacking weapon and last but not least Walsh is a genuine threat.

There is pressure on Carlton to win this game. Their coach who will be fired at the end of the year regardless, is even more likely to be fired regardless.

Why Collingwood will win:

Collingwood has won the last 7 games against the Blues, this alone has them set as favourites. Our ball movement is finally looking more fluid and we're coming off a huge win against the other enemy, Richmond.

JDG has clicked as a midfielder that has short stints in the forward line as opposed to the other way around. Maynard is back to his raging-bull best. Pendles is ageless and Crisp just keeps on trucking.

The Blues are also likely to go in with just one key forward, which will make life tougher for Harry McKay who will be squaring off against Roughie.

My thoughts:

For fans of either club it doesn't matter where we're positioned on the ladder. Beating Carlton will make our year seem less sh*t, and vice versa.

I was a sooky kid. I cried for days when my dog got hit by a motorbike but nothing made me cry more than the 1979 grand final; fn Wayne Harmes.

Playing Carlton 4 decades later will still trigger those awful memories and it doesn't help at all that their leaders have always looked like aliens.

I believe this game will go the wire. Pies by 5 points. Elliot to kick 4.

Nice, balanced preview.

I like our chances too.

Except if they try and play Mayne on the HB flank and the wing simultaneously, as the team sheet indicates they might ;)

Explains his extra disposals with no metres gained , he is obviously handballing to himself.

Are we beating Carlton tomorrow? Again? It’s getting monotonous.

We’ll keep them in it for three quarters and then do this in the last quarter, because we can

:

Hopefully not this.

Im no expert on draft points but 12th spot on the ladder sounds a lot better than 17th. Beat Carlton and we move two spots up the ladder and make landing Daicos that bit more affordable. After that we can think about maybe consolidating 12th and maybe even advancing a spot or two more.

We also just got in front of them on head-to-head.. Cant let them strike back immediately and draw level !!

Cheers for the preview, Jathanas. How come the game is still being played in Victoria given our lockdown?

No crowds.. the teams are under strict protocols.....

and where else are they all going to play at short notice?
I just can't remember what happened to games in Melbourne during lockdown last year. Had thought there was a chance the games could be postponed.

They eventually moved to interstate hubs after playing in Melbourne without crowds for a week.

8 teams have already fled their states for Qld.

We don't know what round 19 will look like.
