After the bye in round 4, Essendon meet Frankston, the two sides usually the other way around on the table, Frankston being a surprise packet so far this season at 3 wins and 1 loss whilst the Dons are 1 and 2. Essendon's last clash was an 8 goal loss to arch rivals Carlton whilst Frankston had their first loss of the season last round against perennial contenders Williamstown by a whopping 14 goals.
The Bombers started well two weeks ago, leading the first quarter by 3 goals but Carlton hit back, scoring 12 goals to three after quarter time to round out comfortable victors in the end. Former Saint Nick O'Kearney made his debut for the Bombers and was a standout in the middle with 36 disposals and a goal, whilst Jake Hobbs was the only multiple goal scorer with 2 for the Dons.
Frankston were dominated from start to finish against a very strong Williamstown outfit, the Seagulls increasing their lead at every break, 11 second half goals really killing off any chance for the Dolphins. Nathan Freeman has had the ball on a string this season and last week was no exception, having 44 disposals last week, and whilst no forward had multiple goals against Willy, Bailey Lambert has kicked 11 goals so far this season.
Possible sides:
Essendon:
FB: James Harrold - Brandon Zerk-Thatcher - Cody Brand
HB: Angus Baker - Cian McBride - Tom Hird
MF: Josh Smithson - Joe Atley - Kyle Dunkley
HF: David Zaharakis - Patrick Ambrose - Lachlan Johnson
FF: Alec Waterman - Josh Eyre - Danny Younan
OB: Nick Bryan - Ned Cahill - Dylan Clarke
IC: Sam McLarty - Jake Hobbs - Josh Tynan - Nick O'Kearney
Frankston:
FB: Joel Crocker - James Rendell - Max Williams
HB: Mitch Cox - Taine Barlow - Josh Newman
MF: Will Fordham - Sam Fletcher - Connor Riley
HF: Ash Krakauer - Josh Begley - Angus Styles
FF: Kai Owens - Bailey Lambert - Tylar Young
OB: Jeremy Goddard - Anthony Brolic - Nathan Freeman
IC: Jai Florent - Will Kennedy - Nathan Scagliarini - Joe Lloyd
Frankston will head in as favourites and rightly so, Dolphins by 22
