Router configuration

Does anyone know how to configure a Cisco2611 router for ppp encapsulation and chap authentication? I have configured the serial ports between two routers but cannot ping between them? For some reason the Challenge handshake is not working. Can anyone help me I'm stuck ? Can any Bigfooty genius solve the problem ?

I fixed it. I had to change the username of the second router to the hostname of the first router.Fantastic. Sorry but I find routers very exciting.
