Hi All,

I stumbled onto this podcast series about the 1993 season (listen to 19 minute episode one for a good intro to why they are doing it https://omny.fm/shows/the-greatest-season-that-was-93/episode-1-the-greatest-season-that-was-1993) which is excellent overall but the episode on Fitzroy's season has been brilliant (I'm about 40 mins into the hour episode).

Robert Shaw is the special guest and the podcasters who judging by the intro episode are roughly 35-40 have done some amazing research getting Shaw to tell some brilliant (and of course sad) stories of Fitzroy at the time. Lots of bits and pieces in here about Osborne leaving (pre season), the end of the season departures (Lynch, Broderick, Gale, Caven, Dundas, Elliot), Roos staying, the Blakey for McCarthy trade (pre season), Doc Wheildon, Mark Zanotti, shifting to the Whitten Oval (1994), financial issues and AFL issues.

The podcast splices in old news clips and commentary and talks about various games as well. Really good.

have a listen and post you're favorite story or any other memories from that year.

I was 10 at the time and hanging off the back of the tin shed next to the Wheatley Stand, remember the excitement around Lynch and Wheildon, and a couple of the standout wins that year on TV v West Coast in Perth and falling over the line against North Melbourne.

Thats the best hours listening. Absolutely loved hearing back about our 93 team and the obvious obstacles Shaw and players were dealing with. quite a few interesting things revealed. Osborne walking out on the club. Zanotti wanting in - no one wanted to play for us.

Recommend every Fitzroy supporter listen to it.
