anybody seen this guy play ball,

I think he was playing in the cba and fighting at the same time.

I know little about boxing but the pound for pound statement that follows his name... and he has looong arms even for a 6 and a bit footer... sam perkins reach.

interesting to know if he has explosive legs on a basketball court, or is it all in the upper body.

Not sure on his basketball ability, but as a boxer he's one of the best of all time.

Wouldn't suprise me to see his amazing athletic ability insde the ring transfer into other sports.

Was rumors that he was going to step up a division and take on Lennox Lewis. Now that would have being a fight to see. Not sure who he fought but he stepped up a division and took on a heavyweight and beat him. Obviously then there was strong rumors that he would fight LL. Dont know what happened but it obviously never got off the ground. LL is retired now...

I saw him ball, and saw him get spanked by Gonzo and Terrell Owens.

If there wasn't so much money in his other sport, Tony Gonzalez would be a solid NBA veteran by now.

I think Roy chose wisely when he abandoned his NBA dream a few years back.

Then again, if Master P can get a run with the Hornets' summer league team, anything's possible.

Would've been interesting, but I don't think he would've fared to well. Beating a heavyweight like John Ruiz is nothing compared to standing toe to toe with the real champ, even if he is past his best. I would've been more interested in a Tyson-RJJ fight.

There was talk a few years back that he was going to come and play in the British Basketball League for the London Towers, who were going quite well in Europe at the time as well.

I heard him interviewed and he said he was seriously thinkng about it.

Would have been handy on a 'bench clearer'.

I know Ruiz is no Lewis but they dont say "pound for pound, the best boxer in the world" for nothing. RJJ is something else, would have been a great fight!

Yeah but pound for pound is a good indicator when he's fighting someone of similar size, which Lewis was not. Pound for pound RJJ is the best boxer in the world IMO and one of the best of all time, but when fighting someone like Lewis who has way too much size to go along with plenty of skill and power then it'd just be too much. Remember Lewis was often ranked inside most top 10 pound for pound lists, despite the obvious disadvantage of been a heavyweight.

RJJ like Portmagpies said, would fight a hide and seek type fight while trying to score a win on the cards, but Lewis in decent shape would've been good enough to catch him enough to win.

No I don't think he does.

Yeah he's slightly smaller then Tyson but not as heavy or as powerful, and look what happened to him against Lennox so it's not a great comparison. He's definetly a better boxer then the current Tyson, but no I don't think he'd even try knocking Lennox out. He wouldn't stand toe to toe with him, it'd be more of a 'catch me if you can while I score some points' type of fight'...and Lewis is good enough to catch him unlike Ruiz.

It's a completely different fight then against Ruiz, which is why RJJ wanted something like 100 million to fight Lennox because he knew he was an ultra longshot to win.

Anyway it probably won't ever happen, now RJJ vs Tarver on the other, that's a fight!
