What are these courses usually like? I'm not hugely looking forward to it. Is it a bit of a mixed bag in terms of the people doing it, or what? Is there much group work with awkward 38-year olds? And what do you wear to it?

Probably dependent on where you go.

Mine was at school, ridiculously chilled where the guy told us more drinking stories than what we are actually supposed to learn. Told us the answers to the test and that was that. Said he had never failed someone.

I'm guessing it'll be stricter than that where you go but all in all it's a good thing to have. Yes its boring but 3 hours of your life really isn't that bad. There might be minor group work but you'll be fine. Wear whatever, just day to day casual stuff.

The only group work I had to do was with 1 person where you stand there and act as if you're serving them, they're too drunk and you have to cut them off. It was easy as piss, took a few hours which flew by, and half of it is the teacher telling you stories.

Too easy, mate.

I did one about 15 years ago. I think the teacher was an alcoholic. We learned all the proper RSA stuff (videos, practice, etc) in the moring and then just pulled beers and made coktails and drank them in the afternoon. Ended up getting pretty smashed.

Come to think of it, it may have been a combined RSA/bartender's course. Can't really remember.
