I'd be worried about McCarthy's shoulders - They've been operated on 3(?) times now, and ruck is such a harsh position to play as it is, but if your arm can't lift above your head then you're stuffed.

Agreed. I would have thought even Playfair would be a better option in the ruck if we were ever in a pinch, don't know why Bomber didn't try that yesterday.

Bomber chose to put Macca in the ruck because Ottens was relatively on fire in the forward line. He looked the most dangerous out of H and Macca

Playfair is absolute rubbish in the ruck.

Blake ain't there yet. Still some ways to go. Can't say I've seen Blake take contested marks as good as McCarthy.

Won't help his cause if we continue to leave him in the VFL though.

If Blake is in the team, it won't be to take contested marks, it'll be to provide ruck relief, as this thread presumably alludes to.
