We currently have French, Bryan and Deluca. Prendergast cant ruck watsoeva and is only 192cm anyway. Batson and A.O'hAilpin are developing on the rookie list and even if S.O'hAilpin is added to the senior list next year he shouldnt be seen as a ruckman, if he become one then great!

We may not draft a ruckman this year as they take a while to develop, that may be left till next year or the year afta. Therefore, who do we try to trade for? Is there anyone that you guys can think of? Brogan, McDonald, Jamar, Seaby, Doyle, McLaren? Some of these guys might be on contracts atm but trades can still be done. Cheers.

Seen a couple of bullants games late on abc2
and Hooper looks ok at that level.

Am wondering what is happening with Batson,
at 202cm, 100kg, 19 years old, and i suppose still maturing.
how is he going, is he playing bullants senior footy?

I think he started well but has been playing in the Bullants reserves of late but it will take a while for him to develop. He sounds promising so worth keeping. Hooper may be too short but I do like him. He is only about 194cm. Justin Crow I think would be better, is taller, disciplined, skillful and has a good footy brain. He is 197cm tall and can play ruck, CHB and FB. Might be worth a late pick in the draft. I think he would be for versatile and skillful than Morrell and Prendergast - much taller and younger too.

I'd be surprised if we drafted another Ruckman this year. We have French, Bryan and Deluca and the list at the moment, with Batson on the Rookie List.

If they are happy with Batson's progress, they I think we'll stay put this year and focus our attentions to midfielders and KPP. If they flick Batson, then we'd have to take a look at someone. I've never seen him play, so anyone know how he's played this year?

We already have Bryan and Deluca in their early 20's, so I'd say they'd take a punt on a youngster and not another recycled Ruckman.

No need for a ruckman just yet develop bryan and deluca.......french is still good enough for a few years.

Its the other guys we need to worry about...

I'd be worried if we didn't pick up someone through trading or drafting...think Bryan and Deluca are handy backup ruckmen who can play other positions...not sure if they will be able to replace Barnarby. We were very exposed this year when Barnarby went down...and he seems a little injury prone and is only getting older. Maybe DeLuca will fill out and develop (he's got the height) but I think Bryan will fill in PRendergast's role rather than become a no.1 ruckman...I wouldn't bet on either become good fulltime ruckmen.

I'm sceptical about Deluca as a full time first Ruk, but I think if Bryan gets stronger I reckon he has a chance of being a number 1 ruck.

Happy for him to play second fiddle to French at the moment though. Deluca should be played in the Ruck at the Bullants too. He is played too much in the forward line and need more experience playing Ruck IMO.

Agree...don't think he will be able to find a place in the forward line after Fish's return. When he played ruck earlier in the year he was not much chop...but it was not surprising given he was running around in the forward and backlines.

Bryan gets mauled in the ruck........

Not always. He is developing and will put weight on and get fitter over summer. The thing he has going for him is he is mobile, competitive, a good mark and fantastic kick and seems able to play key forward. His tap work is ok but I think will get better and he is very agile below his knees. He and Deluca both seem to have a footy brain and how to position themselves. I think they both are just a bit light and need to be involved much more often - especially Deluca.

You think Bryan can play key forward?

More deep in the forward line IMO. May lack the mobility to play CHF.

Pinch hitter in the forward pocket when the match up is right and a backup ruckman is how I see him. Just like they have been doing. Sitting him on the bench and sneaking him forward to kick a goal late in a quater.
He is not mobile enough for KPP and if he bulks up then he will be even slower. Not a big jump in him either. Still worth perservering with and developing in the future.

Agree. It's going to be interesting to see how he develops over the next 2 seasons. At times he looks like he could completely dominate a game then there other times he looks all at sea. Definitely worth working with.

By key forward I mean 3rd tall or as a pinch hitting CHF. Not a pure KPP but very handy with his size and weapons of long thumping direct kicks and ability to take a strong mark. Can ruck in the forward line also. Spends too much time on the bench for mine.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club tries to get Deluca's younger brother back from Port next year. A good Italian boy should want to be close to his family ;)
