Wow how much of a difference did King fresh and then King injured and off make to the game. We really need to get Rix and McEvoy to get plenty of VFL time and really take the next step, because I cringed everytime there was a throw in when King was off the field and Blake or Kosi had to come in. But when King was on the fit, man did i love watching him tap it to the advantage of LENNY HAYES!! We really need to bring in some non-injury prone ruckmen, soon.

How good is it to actually have one??:p

Kingy was on fire tonight, could see the massive hole he left when he got injured. Our centre work is starting to flow nicely and clearances are always nice :D
Hopefully gards is back next week, we're gonna need him.

Btw anyone know how McEvoy is going??

As a cats supporter I had to turn the game off at half time. As I saw Steven King at his AA and dual B&F best... I realise King got injured, but I felt at half time it was a curse that Ottens hasn't played a game this year with a mysterious foot injury, and King was goddamn brilliant up until that time.
I hope for your sake it's only a niggly injury, as King's last 2 games has been the best of any ruckmen this year...even rivaling that of Cox.

Yeah Kingy did look great on Friday night and him going off was the only reason Essendon got back into the contest. They are saying it is a slight quad strain, no official word as to how long yet, but with David Misson at the club they are erring on the side of caution so I would expect him to miss a couple. Gardiner should come back this week and he was showing some great signs before he went down with a calf. McCevoy is doing well for Casey, but don't expect to see him in the Saints colours for a couple of years needs to put on heaps more bulk to mix it up with the big boys

M. gard should be back this week. He was only meant to be out for a week with a minor injury (that he could have played the first week with), and puting him out for 2 weeks was just playing it super safe. He is not even on the injury list

So we'd expect Kosi to be the second ruckmen for next week? Is it even worth bringing in a Rix or someone to give Kosi more of a chance down forward.

TBH I'd expect it to be Kosi as the second ruck.

The longer Rix stays at Casey the better St.kilda will be.

I was pretty disappointed with Kosi's ruckwork, as he didn't go for the taps at all (just tried to body Hille and Laycock out). This coincided with the run-on that the Bombers got. I thought Blake was much better in the ruck (had an ordinary night otherwise) and helped us get the game back on level terms.

Rix would have been a better option, but we weren't to know King would get injured (he was awesome before this).

If King & Gardiner are injured this week against Port I would rather use Rix than Kosi against strong Bodied Ruckman like Port have got.

When we picked up King I don't think many of us expected either him or Gardiner to play every game but I thought it would be important that at least one of them would be play every week. It remains to be seen how long King will be out for but if Gardiner can return things will be going to plan.

It's a real shame for Kingy though, I always though he would be an important acquisition but his ruckwork has been superb. He's exactly what we needed.

I am starting to think that Grant Thomas and Ross Lyon are both right.
Rucks are vitally important ,BUT you can't aford to have a ruck who is not multi-skilled enough to also have an impact when there are not stoppages.

That is how I rate Rix, apart from the ruckwork he is not up to AFL standard. When Rix plays we are basically one man short. Better to hope that Kosi/Blake can do enough and that the others can cover for it.
