Having seen the Tigs several times this year, every time we run hard, we look fantastic, score heavily and usually dominate.

But in almost every game, we seem to hit patches of STATIC, stop-start football, and it is the worst thing I've ever seen. We turn it over, can't clear the defensive zone and usually bleed goals.

Did it in the last qtr against Carlton, did it in patches yesterday and it is losing football. Are we not fit enough to run out games?...or is it the rotations?...unsure, but I know as soon as we start chipping...it's time to get a bunch kicked on us.

Any thoughts? Conflicting opinions?

whenever we have a bit of a lead at half time, we try to hold onto the lead and play defensive. We always get belted this way. The only way to go is attack for 4 quarters

Agree though, we're certainly alot closer to a 4 quarter effort than we have been in previous years, the youngsters have a solid fitness base now, why I full expect us to be well and truly cemented in a finals position by this time next year

Got to remember we are a young team who dont have the ability to run out games yet.

Watching us play we have always been competitive for a quarter but then fade as we tire. Its a gradual thing as the boys get more pre seasons they will be able to run harder and longer

We become a great tream to watch when we flow......we run fast, we clear the contested ball quick, and we scare and make the opposition worried. We have the chance to become a very fast, successful team.

But some players take it on themselves to slow us down, because they can't continue to play at that pace. Once they catch their breathe our fast breaking advantage has gone. You know who those players are.....mostly old stagers. We need to weed them out and replace them with players who what to play this new Richmond style of football.

It was the 'old stagers' who iced the game when the young 'uns ran out of puff in the second half. (E.g. Brown, Simmonds, Bowden etc.)

We do seem to do it just before half time a lot. Usually that mindset seems to carry over into the 2nd half and we get smased in the 3rd quarter.
We are getting there though.
We played 3 good quarters against Essendon, West Coast and Port Adelaide.
4 quarters of good footy against Brisbane, Adelaide or even Hawthorn should get us a win.

Can't add anymore to what you have both said. Completely, utterly agree 100%.
When we run and take risks, our footskills actually IMPROVE! When we stop and think about it, our footskills and decision making go backwards.
It's obvious we play well on instinct. Go figure.

Simmonds, I'll grant, played like a man possessed in the last...and along with Foley swung the game..best I've seen from him...Brown is small and goes MIA for long periods , so generally doesn't get as worn out as others....as for Bowden...well, seems this board hasn't learnt from the Port game and insist on lauding him basically because of one thing he did right at the death....fact is he slowed us down all day like he always does...and don't forget his shocking turnover that led to that Essendon goal in the last..think I even made a reference to him in the gameday thread about 10 seconds after it...he might have "saved" us twice...but think aboyut how we got in to those positions were we needed to be saved in the first place...both after blowing comfortable leads...

Every time the opposition kicks a few quick goals on us they try to slow the game down chip the footy around.
Our team is to young and inexperienced to do that and our foot skills arnt the best either.
Just keep running provide options for the player with the ball, We do this for 4 quarters against Brisbane Geelong i think well beat Brisbane and we will be very close to Geelong.
