I wouldn't be suprised if they did. We have a short term need for an experienced goal kicker and Roberston averages two goals a game. Stranger things have happened.

Robertson seems like te sort of player who really wants to get a game and will try hard to get on the field for any team. Could be a good goalkicker for a year or even two forus, altenativly it could be a bad move and his performance may flatline, but if you have him on a 1 year contract not paying him through the teeth that shouldn't be too much of a trouble

Agree. Like someone using the thread search option?

LOL agree. Because we need 10 threads on Robbo.

We almost pushed triple figures on Fev... Why not Robbo :p

But on topic, I think he would be the same as what we looked at Bradshaw for, a short term option up forward.
Give him a one year, minimum wage, incentive based contract and if he kicks 40 goals this season it triggers an extension by one year.

What was his tally this season? I think it was around 25 from 12 games or something of the top of my head but not sure

De ja vu  Could of sworn we all went over this just last week.

No thanks. Robbo is done and would not contribute enough to warrant regular senior selection. His poor at ground level as well. Would much rather look to the future and back the young blokes in. It will take time.

These Pagan like band aid jobs never work out.

Russell Robertson?

I have heard Robbo who is 30 Is very keen to play on and has not and will not be taking any holidays off over the break so that he can train hard and be prepared for the 2010 season. He said that he still has the fire in his gut to play on and believes that he can still kick 40 to 50 goals in a season.

I myself think that carlton should invite him and make no promises
to come on down and train with them over the summer months just to see what his worth to the side maybe and if he maybe a late pick up to give us an avenue to goal.

I was just interested to see what others thought about this?

You gotta present the whole story... Two goals average from a shocking midfield, and a shocking backline feeding the ball to the midfield.

Its a pretty decent record when you put it into context. Our midfield would maybe get him to about 3 goals average (66 season), while still allowing our forward line to develop and mature.

Give him 2 years max. I'd prefer him over bradshaw, but thats because i've seen more of Robertson in the forward line and his impressive marking abilities than Bradshaw.

No way!

Great athlete but nothing else

Goes to ground too much

Misses important shots for goal

Re: Russell Robertson?

thank you for making another thread about this
the first 3 weren't any good but this ones just great :thumbsu:

Wouldn't bother me if we did look at him for a year or two, as long as it wasn't at the expense of another player who the club are trying to develop as a forward - maybe Austin.

FWIW, if we could get 20-30 goals from him, he would have done his job.

If he costs bugger all then I can't see a problem with it. Give him a run for a few weeks, if he does nothing, let him play out his career at the Ants.
