I wanted him delisted at the end of 2003...didn't look like it, too skinny, skills were average at best.....at the end of 2004, even though he played in a Premiership with Subiaco my opinion hadn't changed a great deal.

Boy, was I wrong.

He has bulked up, has a bit of grunt about him, loves kicking a goal, handy pace, & his skills have doubled since I saw him in 2003 at training. I reckon he's definitely Top 24 players & probably should have a run with role all of 2006...IMO ahead of Steven Dodd. Looks a player!

This year 6/10
2006 hoping 8/10

Very interesting player, came out of nowhere. Going on WAFL form I was suprised you guys rookie drafted him.
With players like him, its going to come down to how he goes next year. He doesnt have any outstanding attribute and Im not sure he will ever be an AFL star. For some reason I keep comparing him to guys like Andrew Shipp and Brad Dodd. They both were very good in their first few yrs but really fell of the pace because there wasnt anything to set them apart. We shall wait and see.

You don't have to be a star to play in a premiership. Second Chance is playing like some who has been thrown an AFL life line.

Good worker and I still expect improvement as he is still learning the caper.

He is proof that we draft players too young.
Masai ,I agree wholeheartedly with you on that point. There are far too many kids thrown to the wolves because they or their bodies were not ready for the rigours of AFL.Check out how many finish up on the scrap heap and are never heard of again.
Orange to compare Dodd to Shipp I think is unfair. In my opinion Dodd was a very much one pace player who was good for a short time.Shipps career was curtailed by injury. He as a young player at the Dockers early was as strong over the ball as any kid we have recruited and had pace and strength. He was also very strong man on man in marking contests and I think he was at that stage only 17 or 18.Again another who was taken too early.
When he came back from injury he showed only glimpses of what he was capable of.
On the query on Crowley I must say that he has impressed me.To give him a mark so far for the season I would have to say 7 to 7&1/2.
Next year will tell the story if he can go on with it.Same applies to the likes of Dodd,Peake,Johnno etc.
Another I believe will bebefit from being kept back this year is Gilmore. He has every chance of being a star for us next season. It was far too early for him this year.

Crowley was in exceptional form in the WAFL before his elevation. It's one of the few testaments in regards to Fremantle's recruiting persisting with a young player.

Shane Tuck is a prime example of different rates of development, this season at least.
