What do Tigers supporters think: If the rest of the season for the Tiges is on a par with the first 16 rounds, should spud be sacked at the end of the year?

the feral in me says yes, sack him. the sensible me says no. He has done the right thing with Knights. Its time a few of his mates are offered a mid week press conference!

The club has walked that road so many times in the past twenty odd years - to no avail - that such a move is a proven disaster.

He would want at least one more year to show a degree of improvement and to formualate a new direction with the youngsters that are coming into the side.

Allow Spud to 'shovel out the barn'. We must never expect miracles overnight and he must be given the FULL backing of the board.

I am more confident about Spud being retained than I ever was with Walls and Gieschen. As has been stated, sacking the coach hasn't reallly helped us any, and more likely has done us great harm. Because, regardless of the coach, the problem still has remained - players who control the club rather than the other way around.

I think we should take a leaf out of the Malcolm Blight book of coaching - identify the culprits and weed them out ruthlessly (ie McDermott, McGuinness and Jarman). Adelaide went from being a rabble to a premiership team within a year.

no I don't think he should be sacked and I don't think he will be well not this year anyway.I know he has been quiet disapointting this year ( but than agian alot of people at Richmond have been ) but over all I think Danny Frawley is a pretty good coach.

I think on last years result, he deserves another year.

However, he has made a few errors of judgement. I'm sure he's is aware of them, but he should be put on notice because of them.

Why on earth he recruited both Houlihan and Hudson, has got me beat. They are both similar type players. And then the club give Hudson, Jack Dyers number (17)as well as sign him on a 2 year deal. I know you like a punt spud but you backed the wrong horse this time.
I'm not too stressed about Knighta getting told that he would not be required next year. But I would rather see him out there than Hudson. What does the club do about Hudson do they pay him out for next year.

When was the last time we drafted a YOUNG 190cm plus player, it would be several years now. We have got probably the shortest list out of all the clubs. I know that we have been trying to get midfielders and crumbing goalkickers. But the fact is that we we have been caught out with our unfortunate run of injuries to our big guys. We have nine players over 190cm's or six foot two in the old scale every other club has got about 14 or 15.

I hope that Mills, Hyde, Ednie etc soon get the oppurtunity to prove themselves. And hopefully we have room under the salary cap to give either De Pasquale or Taylor a chance.

I guess that there have been a couple of positives this year Rodan and Newman should have long careers all going well. Zantuck has progressed well from last year. Krakouer and possibly Pettifer can develop into good players.

CARN THE TIGES!!!!

No I don't think Spud should be sacked but.........

Believe Spud should be tapping a couple of other players on the shoulder and giving them the same message he gave Knighter.

If our cleanout amounts to Knights only, then I will be very disappointed.

Also believe the club should look at some new blood in the assistant coaching ranks.

Agreed...
Knighta is the equal of Campbell...but Campbell is skipper.
Hudson : a recruiting clanger...albeit a cheap one.
Cameron : A has been.
Sziller : Uninfluential.(is that a real word sandeano ?)
Dunc : Not half the player Knights was...and nearly as old.
Rogers : Hasn't impressed for over 2 years.

And chuck in King and Bidders.

That's space for 10 recruits.
That's a cleanout.
:)

a bit harsh on cameron. he is obviously injured and needs the benefit of doubt. Besides, he has been a more than worthy pick up. Except for Cambo, another mid week press conference is in order for the list of clowns you nominated.

The club needs a clean-out. The coach needs to be the one setting the agenda on this score. Has Danny got what it takes to do this? Don't know yet, but I will be watching.

This idea that we hang on to a coach because in the past we have a poor record of sacking them. This is back-to-front. We change the coach when he cannot get us where we want to go.

We change the coach when he cannot get us where we want to go.

That's a fine theory, but in the past we have given neither time nor support to most of the 10 coaches since we last won a flag, so it has been hard to have seen if they could take us in the right direction.

I won't comment on all the coaches but take the Giesch & Walls for example. They should never had been selected to coach Richmond in the first place. Walls, especially, was burned out after the Brissy job. So when you make the wrong choice, it gets ugly in the end.

Frawley has had three years and full support. He will need to show he has what it takes to change the Tiges list over the next 12 months or he will be on shaky ground. At the end of last season he made the error of not making the necessary changes to our list which has contributed to where we are today. We finished 4th but the thrashing by Essendon & Brisbane in the finals were clear signs that things needed to change.

I think Richmond should sack the geezer (is it that Mark Brayshaw) who gave Holland, Ottens, and Gaspar multi million dollar contracts. Thanks to him, and past deals involving Knights, Daffy, and Campbell (Richo's expires this year) the Tigers are totally stuffed in the salary cap and cannot afford a quality free agent like Matt Pavlich or Paul Hasleby so the only option is to go with kids. That Gaspar deal is certainly going to bite Richmond on the arse in the next few years methinks.

Another whisper I've heard is that Freo's salary cap troubles of last year (you know - when they rubber-gloved Fabian Francis !!) are apparently nothing compared to those which they are about to run into come 2003.

A perfect opportunity to offer a trip back to Victoria for the likes of Adam McPhee and Leigh Brown ...

If spud goes Campbell must go as captain.

Every close game this year involving the tigers they have lost. The finger for this must not be only pointed at the coach because in the final quarter there's not always a lot the coach can do but it is up top senior players like Knights, Campbell and Richo to take the game by the scruf of the neck and win it and none of them have been willing so I say do a full clean-out of not only coach put trade of some players like campell and Richo because they seem to disappear under strong pressure in the last quarter

research

Enough with the Campbell bashing!!

Go and have a look at the Melbourne game rnd 3 - last quarter to be more specific.

OR try taking a closer look at the Sydney game, I think Campbell only kicked 4 goals and got 24 possessions.

But wait there's more

West Coast - 35 possession and a couple of goals

All these games were close and in all of them Campbell stood up in the last quarter.

And he also performed admirably in the Carlton loss and last week against Essendon.

If it wasn't for Captain Cotton Wool as I heard him called, we'd only have 1 win for the year.

It constantly amazes me that Richo, Knights, Cambo, now Gaspar gets ridiculed, when the biggest joke in the AFL, Duncan Kellaway, gets left out in despatches. He has been back 9 games now for 9 losses and still Spud the dud puts him in the midfield. When are the clowns that run our club going to realise this guy is a total hack. Its a downright blight on our game, when you see one of our players trying to evade a tackle, he looks to pass of a handball, sees Duncan on his own and ignores him because he knows his kicking skills are so poor. Time he was given a midweek press conference. I pity the poor person putting a highlite package of his career, because there isnt any.

he shows more heart than about 18 of his teamates and he dosent put the club to ransom over contracts.
and what is your point about this temamtes avoiding him because of his kicking? one would have thought that was sensible play..
oh wait diggler and sense.. sees the conflict.

Plenty of heart, yes, but no ability. Has no impact on games whatesover. We cant afford to have liabiltities playing for us, that are carried. If his own teamates wont send of handballs to him, why play him. The reason why he cant hold the club to ransom with a contract is no one would have him. Time to give this hack a nice press contract.
