Autopsy Saints in biggest last quarter comeback in history.

Still will have a good shot of getting a decent mid even if we slide down a few spots down the draft order. Plus Fincher.
Here’s the thing about it now though. If Nas stays, it’s far less important that we’re in the part of the draft where the midfield cream is than we previously thought it was.

Nas
Pou
Garcia
Hall
Boxshall
Windy
Trav (?)
Wilson (outside)

Is a potentially gun midfield.

Nas is already top 5 in the comp and now doing the business in the guts, while Pou is another one who’s ceiling is IMO also top 5 in the comp. Or at least top 5 mids in the comp, while Hugo is a Libba type, Hall is a weapon, Windy can tag or play inside or out, and Box has serious extraction potential.

Our biggest need if all those guys stay is now probably genuine goal kicking forwards who can kick.

Unbelievable scenes!

I'm still in shock.

Not just the biggest 4th quarter comeback ever, but the way it happened.

The crazy final quarter goals. The dribbler along the boundary from Hill. The one by.... (someone?) that bent back and just made it.

The absolute screamer by Nas.

Then the complete chaos as the stadium tried to work out what was happening after the 6-6-6 free, with seemingly an eternity taken to make Melbourne players run back before finally giving the ball to Marshall.

Bathing in the glory of the moment before Nas even kicked, knowing he only needed a behind to win.

And then.....GOAL!!!

Please Ross just keep playing the Boxmeister. He looks more composed each game.
What exactly happened to Collard?
And not that I wish an injury on anyone but it was pretty fortuitous that Box could come in early.
Agree. Full games from now on.

I can't believe NAS called that last play. He motioned to all our forwards to cluster to the right, told Marshall where to find him on the left, and in the last seconds of the match sprinted almost as quickly as the ball could travel. And finished like there was no weight on his shoulders whatsoever.

Again, I can't believe the footy nouse of the kid to coach the team in the final seconds. Next level baller.

I was sitting next to a Melbourne supporter whose fiance who he had proposed to yesterday lent over and told him he wasn't allowed to sulk tomorrow when they had dinner with their parents after NWM took the final mark of the game.

I was ****ing cackling the entire time. What a game of footy, give Nas whatever he wants.

I told you all that we would win.
And look at you now...all rejoicing.
It is indeed a happy circumstance.
Enjoy.

Still trying to work out how the **** that actually happened.
That last quarter may get a watching this week.

Thinking that the win will be overshadowed by the possible coach sacking. Surely Goody is screwed now!
They went hard on the dees and goody on first crack but I actually think it’s a touch harsh.

A 666 free in the last 10 seconds of the game tied is unprecedented. It’s not something any team would have ever drilled for.

The focus should be on Nas having the heads up game to realize what he could do and then everyone involved the execute

No doubt teams will now learn from what the dees did poorly (apparently razor Ray told the first crack boys the dees could have set up on the edge of the square and swapped out Gawn for Bowey for example) but I doubt anyone would have thought of that in the madness of the moment.

If goody and co should be whacked for anything it’s giving away a 666 at that point in the game.

Couple of big learnings from that final quarter and press conference.

I think the club is aware on how much more work this young group has to go. But the ceiling is massive.

Brad Hill is not a hbf but the Clark move worked. Hill could play a half fwd rule as he finishes his career. Very smart inside 50. We have midfield and wing replacements long term for him.

The viking is a natural fwd but can play both end. His running patterns are nearly the best at the club already, knows how to create space for either himself or others.

We need to get more put of our high half fwds when hall is in the mids. Our 45degree kicks are the right calls but we just are not hitting them at a high enough level. It will come.

AFL is still a mess in so many ways but some days are good.

In the last quarter, Steele went forward and Macrae on a wing hbf, allowed Nas and Hall to be in ball and it all started from there.
What a find Max Hall has become, he is a midfielder now, changing of the guard before our eyes.
Would love to see Owens change with Steele on ball a bit more.
Thought that throughout the game it was our mistakes that was making Melb look good, didn't think that what would happen would happen!!
More likely it would end as a. .. what might have been if only we played better 3 goal loss.
I reckon Goodwin is gone at end of season...that tonight was a coach killer.

I hope Nas stays, logic says he should...add a fit Pou, King and for that matter Doogs and we start to look a much more complete side in 2026.

Did beating Carlton in the last game last year help develop the will to win whatever the circumstances that we did today...I think so..winning games is everything. Just ask. Melbourne tonight.

Go Sainters.....you miserable pack of bastards.

Unbelievable stuff. Took my 1yo son to his first ever game today, of course he had no idea what was going on but I won't forget it.

Nas is on another level that few players ever reach.

Max Hall's last quarter in the guts.
7 disp
6 score involvements
4 clearances (3 from centre).
Would love to see him play more there. Maybe more Steele fwd? Can mark well and kick straight. Could help our fwd 50 tackling too.

Off to watch the last qtr replay and with a wee dram.

Start him on the ball next game.

Lost in all the understandable jubilation is that Viking kicked his first snag!

What an incredible last quarter. One I will never forget.

Give Nas the entire anything he wants. Hall is elite. Windy went to another level when the tag was unleashed.

Wood and Hill huge in that last quarter. Sharman's 2nd goal shouldn't get forgotten. That was a huge moment.

So much we still have to work on but these are the moments you play for. 128 years of this game and we made history today. We will never expereince anything like it again.

It was insane. Just all of it.
