Saints vs Dees

I can't see the melbourne backline matching up on the saints forwards, if it's to be a close game it'll have to be a shootout and Neitz and Robbo will have to kick 15+ between them.

If Hudgton isnt fit, Neitz could kick a bag, Penny returning from injury too, I can see the melbourne forwards going to town (potentially) on saturday if the melbourne mmidfield can fire. Hopefully melbourne dont wear the white shirts because Bruce may ******** himself when he sees Guerra run at him.

This has got to be an exceptionally trying time for Melbourne fans as well as the players. They were sitting clear second and since have lost their next five games in a row to be in serious jeopardy of dropping out of finals contention altogether. If this happened to my club, I would be devastated. For the Dees fans, this is a recurring nightmare as in the latter stages of the 2004 home and away season they had a similar disaster culminating in a single finals appearance – a loss to Essendon.

As much as I feel for the Dees fans, I still can’t see them being able to upset St Kilda on Saturday night.

For Melbourne to win this game, they have to turn around their form, overcome the “Subi curse”, cover for their injuries, overcome their memories of a first round thrashing, and do it all in a break of just 6 days between matches.

It is possible, Melbourne are a good team, maybe they aren’t a top four team, but they definitely should be playing in the finals. This sort of form spiral has to be psychological in nature. The answer for them is similar, they must truly believe that they are good enough to beat a red-hot St Kilda outfit and they must also be able to back up that belief with action.

Melbourne will need to start the game out well to solidify the confidence that the coaching staff will engender in them, then they will have to match it with St Kilda throughout the game.

The Saints may well have several players returning from injury for the match, these will not be match fit. Just maybe they will run out of petrol if Melbourne put it to them the whole match.

It would be a remarkable effort and I don’t expect it to happen, but if it did then Melbourne could truly call themselves finals contenders, and it may resurrect their season.

i think melbourne will win this, sorry saints fans but their backs are to the wall and daniher will be saying it's their ABSOLUTE last chance. i think saints havent won at the mcg against melbourne for ages, and melbounre were good last week, they will go close to winning here, if not winning the game.

The guy's got a point. We haven't beaten the Demons since '99 at the G. I've got a feeling it will be a close game, Melbourne will be desperate to stay in the hunt for finals, it's their last chance.

Those who point out we haven't beaten Melbourne at the MCG for a while are right, it would be some new territory for this group.

We hadn't beaten Carlton 6 times in a row before we beat them this year but it didn't stop me picking St Kilda.

St Kilda v Melbourne History does not affect this game but I feel that Melbourne could potentially match up well against us. If they can get on top in the midfield the strong forward line could kick a big score.

They do have quality on ballers and they can make sides look stupid on the wide expanses of the MCG, but I would like to think the saints would be ready and waiting for this one. We have to keep winning if we want the double chance come September, so it is vital that we get the 4 points here.

If St Kilda get their fair share or more of the mid field ball I think our forward line will post a winning score for us but I am looking forward to this game, it represents our first real test since the bulldogs games a few weeks ago and we should have a better idea of where we are placed this year.

All i can say is please dont belt us too hard, lol.
i will let u win but no more than 60 points please!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will probably laugh at me for saying this, but I’ve changed my mind and I am really looking forward to this one. I think we're a good chance. A club against the wall vs a side that is probably one of the form sides atm. At least with Ackland out it helps and Miller back in, but Rivers is a big loss. Would have been going straight to Riewoldt.

Dees comming off a trip from subicao makes it hard for them. Besides they are too far gawn confidence wise against a team who has come out of the yipes and will have added confidence with big name players back.

Am $hitting big black Alsations on Saturday's result - but could be one of those occaisions when we are massive underdogs who pull the rabbit out..

Dunno wha to expect this weekend 'cause we've had our backs to the wall the last couple of weeks but haven't been able to produce. If we click we can win, otherwise will get belted. The game will be won and lost in the midfield. I struggle to see either teams defence really getting on top without major help from the midfield and our runners just don't look up for it sad to say.
