Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics

Well i've heard that "Rampaging" Roy Slaven and H.G Nelson will be doing "The Dream" at the Winter Olympics in the next fortnight, and if thier Sydney Olympics efforts are anything to go by, will be waiting with baited breath to see them on the telly.

Also, i've heard that Bruce McAvaney will be comparing the serious side of the telecast, alongside Johanna Griggs, and olympic skiier Steven Lee.

And our olympians will be decked out in great uniforms for the games, with the emphasis on earthy tones (eg ochre, forest green and gold), and i'm no fashion guru, but I reckon they come up a treat.

I can't wait to see sports such as Ice Hockey, speed skating (our short track team is half a chance here in Salt Lake) and Bobsledding, and it will be interesting how the mormons handle the games, because mark my words, this event is important for the state of Utah and for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the Winter Games as well. My favourite events are the Ice-Hockey, moguls and the one where they to those big long jumps where it looks like they are flying just can't remember the name.

Eagerley awaiting 'The Dream' for the Winter Olympics.

It will be one good thing about The Winter Games. Last time I really didn't enjoy it. Everytime I turned it on, figure-skating, figure-skating and more figure-skating!

Help an uninformed one out - Generally what are Australia's strongest winter sports? Obviously the climate isn't exactly hospitable for snow sports to thrive, so I'm curious as to what makes up the bulk of your team. I assume you have skiers and speed skaters and probably bobsleds (If Jamaica has one than surely you guys do). Does anyone play ice hockey, for example?

Please forgive me if this sounds the least bit patronising; I'm just curious.

Sorry to dissapoint you 'once every four years' hockey fans, but Channel 7 have informed us that they will be showing limited ice hockey this year. I rang to find out some details and they really couldn't care less that this will be the greatest tournament ever as the Canadians and the USA seek to atone for the disaster of four years ago.
I'm also hoping that they find a new commentator this time. If I hear that rugby guy (Gordon Bray) call the puck a ball one more time or say the game is entering the third 'quarter' (when there's only three periods) I swear I'm going to bomb the bloody station to the ground. Matybe they should look for a commentator who knows something about the players and the rules of the game.............eg ME

But don't worry people, there will be countless hours of ****ing pointless figure skating to keep the 'grandmas' happy.

YES same!!!!! Not much into winter olympics, but I just LOVE Roy and H.G. so I'll tune into 'The Dream'.

Stealth, our strongest competitors are in skiing, speed skating and snow boarding. Our hockey team is in section/division C or D which means we don't get the chance to play at the Olympics.
