Dissapointing, but it's likely after his recent and past injury history, he's not going to be a full time ruck again.

Would be better off making him a forward who pinch hits in the ruck.

He'd still be a dominant forward imo. But I don't think we should offer him a big contract now. If Adelaide or Brisbane do, then we don't match it.

Twomey is saying today that we're interested in Draper despite it being likely we'll get Allen. Strange.

But they aren't stopping there. AFL.com.au revealed last week the Lions are interested in Draper, Essendon's unrestricted free agent who is weighing up his options.
There are concerns around Oscar McInerney's longevity as he battles a back injury this season and other ailments, with coach Chris Fagan saying his long-serving big man was "banged up" last month. Darcy Fort, McInerney's excellent flag fill-in, is a year older than McInerney and turns 32 this year and the other ruck on Brisbane's list is four-gamer Henry Smith.

I think one of his best roles is as the deep forward at least pre injury. He’s very good at winning 1 on 1s

At the start of the season if I was Crows list manager I would have gone hard after Draper, but obviously with his injury and with O'Brien's form this season - I know he's playing for a contract - I'd have some doubts about throwing big $ at him.

I like drapes now but I like the look of Nick Bryan and Vigo more long term. One of those ones for me where I am ok with whatever the outcome will be, so long as Essendon don’t offer a crazy deal to retain (which our current off field list team are being much more disciplined with)

I'm probably wrong to doubt our list management team but I'm just not a fan of overpaying for an injured ruckman.

I'll happily deal with injury risk at more important positions but the combo of outbidding the bombers and crazy Adelaide to get him plus the achilles and other consistent injuries is so yuck.

One thing to play out here would be that if TDK says No and stays at Carlton then surely Draper goes to St Kilda on say 1 mill per year type figure yeah?
