Congrats Sam. While average on talent, you've got a player that's huge on heart, work-ethic and character. Someone that will plug a required hole for a while and will certainly set a good example for younger players coming through.

Thought we should have given him another year rather than leaving him stranded on 99 games.

Glad he's found a new home.

Brains Trust66 would you like to be Sam's player advocate this year? I know you are busy with the podcast so all good if you can't. Cheers.

There has been a rumour started that the only reason the Saints have recruited Rowe is so I will have a player to pick to be their advocate next season , that way none of our good young players will get injured and miss many games .

Don’t Panic !!

Noticed Rowe played for Sandy against Hawks.
Does this mean the contract issue has been fully resolved?

Sam Rowe
Nine disposals, two tackles, one goal
“Rowey’s good as a second ruck. Clearly he’s strong in there, as is his ability to get down the line for us. And it’s only his second game back, his game-time crept up from 80 minutes to 90, so he’ll play a full game next week. I mean, 90 minutes is almost a full game, so he won’t be too far away.”

Sam Rowe
12 disposals, two goals, 14 hit-outs
“I think Sam provided contest well, getting to 30-odd contests is not easy, but he kept getting to the ball. Didn’t quite complete it at times, but his work rate was very good for us.”

Sam Rowe
Seven disposals, six hit-outs, two goals

“Rowey was outstanding up front and worked well with the small forwards in Wrighty, Foxy and Youngy. I thought it was one of his better games and he got on the end and kicked a couple, so it was really pleasing to see.”

Sam Rowe
Six disposals, five kicks, two hitouts

“Sam battled on with an AC, but I thought he started really well before hurting his shoulder, which probably brought him back to the pack a little bit. But his timing is starting to get back and his confidence in his body is showing, so I think he’ll take a bit to get going, but I think he’s able to condition himself and the more minutes he plays, the more confident he’ll be.”

Don’t Panic !!

Sam Rowe
12 disposals, four tackles, 26 hit-outs
“I liked Sammy in the ruck and up forward. It was a real Achilles heel of ours not being able to get the job done up front after King went down – 14 intercept marks isn’t going to cut it – but we liked what Rowe was able to do in front of the ball. Him and Kye [Answerth] were flipping in the ruck, but I thought after being out for three weeks he contributed well and he’ll be quite pleased with getting through the game.”

Sam Rowe
10 disposals, two tackles, 21 hit-outs, one goal
“He battled hard all day, Rowey. He’s a little bit undermanned and undersized in there, but he’s such a competitor and provides strong leadership in there, similar to what Browny does.”

Sam Rowe
Eight disposals, two tackles, 52 hit-outs
“We were rapt with Rowey’s effort. I thought it was about even in the ruck, but just his effort to keep going and keep buttering up for us all day was great. Having the nous to not only work hard offensively, but work hard defensively for us – get back, give us presence – and his leadership and presence was first-class. He competes strongly and gives great effort, so he’s always going to be in the game and that will let his talent take over.”

Sam Rowe fits under the same umbrella in terms of player admiration, with the Saints’ young contingent speaking highly of his role in their development.

Key defender Sam Rowe has done it all for the Zebras this season.

Rowe’s leadership for Sandringham and flexibility in playing up forward, down back and in the ruck could see him used as a versatile asset come Saturday afternoon.

Currently sitting on 99 career games, it would be fitting for the No. 47 to bring up the ton against his old side.

Sam Rowe will notch up game 100 in his maiden outing for the red, white and black this weekend.

The 31-year-old has spent most of 2019 in the VFL, lending a major hand in the ruck and in the development of the young St Kilda brigade.

Rowe was picked up earlier this year as a pre-season supplemental selection after playing 99 games for the Blues.

Battled hard for Sandy every week and was given the chance to play his 100th game . Was an important back up ruckman for Marshall with both Pierce and Longer out almost all season . Did his job .
