The deal seems pretty standard for a player of his ability coming into his prime.

The alternative was losing him for a single compo pick or a few teens picks from Geelong, which will be chewed up by Walker anyway.

Hopefully his injury issues are sorted. It will look like a bargain if he gets back to his best. It will look terrible if his back is shot.

That was two seasons ago, if Walsh wanted to leave clubs would be lining up to get him and we wouldn’t need to pay him 600k a year to play against us.

8 years seems like insanity with his recurring back issues. Hopefully he has put them behind him, because this could easily be the worst contract in the AFL if they continue to be an issue.
