Just had a browse through Slys thread about the old Monkey TV show. Great though it was who else remembers the original badly dubbed and greatest of all imported Japanese TV shows, the one and only,

SHINTARO, the SAMURAI

Anyone?

"You die..... SHINTARO" but he never did. Tombei the Mist, his faithful assistant, Shusaku, I guess his ward (well he never called him Dad that I can recall). The jumping twenty feet backwards into trees, ceiling corners Koogu Ninja that threw a zillion plus shuriken (poison tipped throwing stars) at Shintaro that never hit him once. Creaky photography and special (haha even that's stretching it) effects. Incredibly bad (abysmal to be truthful) dubbing. Saturday mornings at 7am, a half hour of 17th century feudal Japan was always waiting for me,

Ahh, what a show it was.

Monkey, you were okay, SHINTARO, you were the Legend! :D

it'd be interesting to watch the subtitled versions of these shows, instead of the dubbed versions. personally, I can't stand dubbing.

Shintaro was great but there was another show on about the same time called 'The Phantom Agents' which was a lot better.

Only just remember the details but they could do things like jump backwards into trees, put a blanket over their head and become invisible, and fling multiple star knives in machine gun fashion.

Unfortunately, all of the film was burnt in a fire and will never be seen again. :(

Now this I admit to having no memory of at all. Was it a Japanese show as well (I'm presuming so). The blanket disappearing act does ring very VERY vague memories but to be honest I thought that was a SAMURAI trick.

Hmm those four year old child recollections are not quite as clear as I thought they were.
