11 - a number made famous by light-weight wingers. Brian "Needles" Winstanley for Woodville. Kym Kinnear for Port. "Manos" Gallagher for Norwood (methinks) nad Sandy Nelson for Sturt (ok - Sandy wasn't quite a light-weight winger!!)

Lets have 'em!

Cheers

Scott Hodges
1987-1998
183 Games, 693 Goals
1990 Magarey Medallist
1990, 1994, 1996 Ken Farmer Medallist
1990, 1996 Best and Fairest
1988, 89, 90, 94, 96 Leading Goalkicker

He started his career in 1987 but he became a permanent fixture in 1988 leading our goalkicking with 74 goals. He kicked 4 goals in the 1988 Grand Final.

In 1989 he again led our goalkicking, this time kicking 79 goals for the season. He also kicked 4 goals in the 1989 Grand Final win over North.

1990 was his breakout year. He did everything that year. He kicked the league record goals in a season with 153. He kicked the league record of goals in a finals series. He kicked 13 goals in the Prelim to destroy North. After seriously straining his knee in the 2nd quarter of the 1990 Grand Final just a goal short of the record, he came back on limping in the 3rd quarter to help Port beat the Bays. He kicked 6 goals for the match and in the process beat the League record.

His next 3 seasons were split between playing with Adelaide and playing with Port. He didnt enjoy his time at Adelaide and ddint want to play there. He kicked 6 goals in the 1992 Grand Final to help kill Glenelg by 10 goals.

In 1993 he kicked 6 goals in the opening quarter of a final against Glenelg. In 1994 he was dropped from the Crows and played the whole year at the Magpies, winning the Ken Farmer again kicking 130 goals. His last quarter of the 1994 Grand Final will go down as one of the greatest quarters in SANFL history. After being 6 goals to 0 down in the first quarter and 12 points down at 3/4 time, Great Scott kicked 5 goals and gave off 3 in a barnstorming last quarter that led Port to one of its finest ever premierships against the unbackable favourites the Eagles.

In 1995 he broke his leg in the first round after Jarrod Hocking pushed him backwards when his legs were caught under a pack. He came back late in the year to play 4 more games and kicked 11 goals for the year. He played in the 95 Grand Final, only playing the first half and kicking 1 goal.

In 1996 he was redrafted by the Crows and was back to his best. It didnt look that way early. He got only a couple of kicks in Round 2, kicked the one goal in Round 3 but went on to kick 11 goals against South in Round 4. He kicked 117 goals for the year, breaking the ton in the last round of the year against West.

The 1996 Prelim will also go down in history as one of Scottys finest moments. Recieving a free kick for in the back deep in the members pocket with 5 seconds left with Port 2 points down , he kicked a miraculous goal with a huge wind blowing across the face to put Port into another Grand Final. Then he was one of our very best in the Grand Final, kicking 7 goals out of 11 to again, win against an unbackable favourite.

His last two seasons were ruined by injury, kicking 12 goals in 7 games in 97 and 31 goals in 13 games in 98...including another Grand Final.

Scotty will go down as one of Ports most best and influential players.

You forgot to mention how Mark Tylor missed the '92 finals by breaking his hand by punching Hodges on his thick head.

Despite his brilliant SANFL career, Hodges will always go down as one of the biggest wasted talents.

Some class mentioned above. Roger Carlaw - the best mullet ever in the SANFL?

Shane Butler wore 11 at South Adelaide.

Steve Pavlich at West Torrens.

At Woodville in the late 70's, ex-Tasmanian Ian Rainbird. Broke Tony Giles' jaw, I do believe. Also the immortal Paul Harradine.

Ross Haslam at the Magpies before Kym Kinnear (coming soon to Legends of SANFL).

Geoff Morris at Westies. Also Greg Nicholson before he moved to Norwood.

Johnny Paynter wore 11 at the Bay before he went to Sturt.

Geoff Gillies at Central?
