SANFL Round 18 scores

A wins a win I guess although I think Norwood’s bad kicking especially in the first ¼ could of cost them a win though scores did blow out towards the end of the game. Umpires missed a lot of frees for us throughout the day and the free kick count was in 13 – 20 in favour of Norwood although it was 5 –1 to us in the last qtr. Our forward line where undisciplined giving 3 50-metre penalties away. Ground was an absolute bog even though sturt only trained at Unley once this week. Congratulations to Adam Thomson (Christopher Atkins) who kicked a goal with his 1st kick in league footy. Danyle Pearce was stretchered off although he should be fine as in the tackle his back landed on the opponent’s knee. I gotta question Jarvis taking our kick outs, the guy knows how to get the ball but his kicking isn’t the greatest. Always had a lot of time for Coad as a player and he is going to get drafted with his performances in defence this year. Adrian Burton got heaps of the ball, as did Sheedy. Cooper and Klun where good. Matty Smith has to get a gig soon with the cows surely. Richardson kicked 3, as did big Whitey, including a rare goal from his right foot!

Scores where 13 – 8 – 86 to Norwood 7 – 12 - 52

Goalkickers where

Whitey, Richardson 3
Klun 1
Sheedy 1
Bowen 1
Coad 1
Chambers 1
Thomson 1

Sturt vs Eagles at Adelaide on ABC next week as well

Unley oval is a bloody disgrace.

If it wasn't for this **** poor oval, then there would NOT be a young under 18 Norwood player in hospital tonight with a broken lower leg.

DISGRACEFUL!

Did Norwood ask for it to be changed ? I am sure if they thought it was unsafe they would of moved it. Who's to say he wouldn't of injured himself badly on a good surface. ??

You're not even a Norwood supporter, take your gripes somewhere else. Aren't you over THAT result yet. !

Sure the surface is bad but pre 1995 most grounds where like that and many games where played without injury.

The surface was not bad today. It was ridicilously disgraceful.

It was bad, no question. Adelaide Oval has been really bad this year as well and that ground is regarded as having one of the best surfaces around the world.
Unley does need to try and improve its drainage and sturt haven't trained there as regularly as they normally would to try and get the ground up.

If this unfortunate accident happened to the redlegs reserves player at Adelaide Oval or Elizabeth this topic wouldn't of even been mentioned. Just another SORE loser .

MUWHUAHAHAHA, doggies go top, the weagles are starting to choke!

Doggies hitting their straps just at the right time after a pretty average season. Good to see the Gowans boys back in form and Luke Cowan FINALLY delivering a good game! The guy has the best leap in the SANFL and is generally inconsistent but when it all comes togather watch out for the Cowan man!!!

The Advertiser today basically confirms what we all knew about Unley Oval.

"The poor condition of Unley Oval has forced today's underage matches between Sturt and the Eagles to be switched to Woodville Oval.
