Do the punters reckon they are a necassary evil or a blight on society ?
This year we have seen the falls festival and Slendour in the grass sell out in like 2 seconds flat only to see wads of tickets appear on the same day on E-bay selling for ridiculously inflated prices .
In 14 years The Meredith Music Festival has generally had tix available up until around 10 days before the event ... this year all gone 10 weeks before the show and GUESS WHAT
...already selling for bucket loads on E-Bay .
Enough is enough i say
Time for the politicians to do something about this scurge and Outlaw it NOW ..... Simple ... make it illegal to re-sell tickets and police the schit out of it .
Maybe a tad harsh on people who have genuine reasons for needing to off tickets but i reckon they should introduce a buy back system whereby people can return tickets at a reduced price from what they payed for them , around 70-80% up until 10 days before the gig , then 7 days out the promoters can re-release the returned tickets for sale ensuring they fill thier shows . Buying back the tickets at a reduced cost would be effective two ways .1# It would help cover the ticketing costs and promoters costs to implement the system and 2# Would mean only genuine people would end up returning thier tix at a small loss
Anyone else have any other ideas because personally i am fed up with it .
