With Matt Scharenberg not yet signed up and talks about him thinking of coming home, what would be his value?
Hasnt played anything of note due to ACL and feet issues. There is a risk of his feet being an ongoing issue for him, so there is a risk with him.
Obviously his value has dropped since his draft year, so wondering what he would be worth? Im thinking early to mid second rounder.

Will retain value however being uncontracted lessens it a little. Similar to Aish, pick 10-20.

He ain't leaving, his best bud in Aish is coming to play with him.

Should post this in both this and the Aish thread, just reversed. :D

I'd give upto about pick 7 or 8 for him depending on who we felt might be available at the point in the draft. Yes he's had issues but they are all things that should come good in the next few months. Gun player and would love him in our side. I'm not saying we would be in the mix but if people think he'd be garnered for cheapies they are kidding themselves. The exposed form of Aish gives him a slide. Sharenburg is still an unwrapped present under the tree.

not wanting to derail this, but just interested in the thought process.

Motlop seems to only garner interest ( in what I have read) as a mid Rd1 pick. Yet Aish and Scharanberg are being discussed at the same value.

My question is derived from Mots actually delivering some results on the field yet drafted at 38. The other two have delivered very little by comparison yet drafted a lot higher…

Thus are we rating draft position and potential over actual results?

Again, just curious….

He's done his ACL since being drafted, has definitely lost some value. Late 1st/early 2nd imo.

True and most clubs would offer that, but Collingwood wouldn't take it. I know people think Collingwood over-rate their own (which I don't agree with, but that's for another thread), but we wouldn't accept anything more than a top 10 pick. That's just because we simply don't know how good he is. He's still very young and had two serious injuries, but he's played most of the VFL season and is getting better. He was one of the best in yesterday's win.

Yes, however if he does say he wants out (hopefully he doesn't since you've invested so much in him) and nominates a club/state, you may not get a top 10 pick.

It might be a Nick Davis type scenario when Collingwood thought he was worth more than the pick 14 Sydney offered, but we eventually ended up accepting.

Probably worth the same as Polec trade IMO . If he requests a trade home and nominates a club pies will be struggling to get a pick in the first round .

O'Rouke was worth pick 23. Crows second pick will be about 25, they may need to take that.

After Schranberg did his knee, his value would have dropped 5-10 picks. The fact that he didn't play the year before hurts as well.

You are pretty much getting a player, who has potential but has not really played. At least Moltop has shown the ability to be a B+\A- player although with questionable work ethic.

Listening to Derik hine he doesn't rate the depth of the draft. I reckon we wouldn't except anything then a first and if we couldn't agree on trade I reckon he would have to nominate for the draft again. Bit like how we got Luke ball

First rounder for either Adelaide and port. Rate sharenburg really highly myself

On value he's probably worth pick 15-25. He's rated very highly across many clubs and was a far better talent than both polec and O'rourke, the injury history and problems was to be expected. I dont see us happily taking any deal for him, and unless he's desperately wanting to leave we would like to retain him.
