Let's use Jack Gunston as an example. He was a late 20s pick for the Crows in 2009 and played 14 games in his two years with us. He was very quickly showing that he was going to be a gun forward, and hence attracted the attention of Hawthorn. He rejected a lucrative contract offer from the Crows and demanded a trade to Hawthorn. We ended up getting pick 24 and an upgrade on a couple of later picks. Basically we got stitched up.

Yes, Scharenburg was a higher draft pick, but his injury has curtailed his development and poses serious questions marks about whether he'll ever reach the heights that were originally predicted for him.

He's worth somewhere between pick 15 and 25 now I'd think.

Late 3rd rounder at best. Out of contract and has not made an impact on field. Original draft pick means nothing.

wait I've heard this story before....

No offence, but he hasnt resigned so.... people on BF can speculate....unless you plan on kidnapping him.
When your sentence starts with no offence, I know it'll be offensive.... and it is. Scharenberg has played 1 AFL game, doubt he'd leave Pies on the back of that.

Can categorically confirm that he won't be at the Pies next year.

Not going to lie, on his interview on RSN yesterday when he was asked about his future he completely avoided the question and it didn't fill me with much confidence at all. Hopefully he can play well for the rest of the season and we snag a first rounder for him, or possibly a three-way trade to get Aish.

Would you do Ricky Henderson or Lyons and our second rounder?

Is that you Matthew?
Well that's it then!!! everyone on BF the speculation is over, thank God.... can you please tell us now what deal is it for? What do Pies get? which SA club is he going to???

Please tell us, please.
Probably Leppitsch

I remember the same lot saying "Beams would never leave Collingwood" when some Brisbane supporters in the know called it happening 6 months in advance.

I'm sure you're one of the members who believed the Friday deadline for the Beams trade.

I reckon we leave it to the footy experts to decide his value whether staying or going and not a bunch of pimple faced nobodys behind a keyboard.

Ive heard of generalising and stereotyping but you sir take the cake. In an internet forum on FOOTBALL DISCUSSION we can discuss the value of a kid who may potentially want to leave your Elite Top Four Best AFL Club Ever.

Both play in positions we really don't need to fill while it's also said to be a weak draft. I reckon Derek Hine will be pushing for a first rounder, probably the Dangerfield compo pick (if he leaves).

Can't see AFC giving up a first rounder, maybe a late one...

Word is that Scharenberg is staying because Aish is coming to Collingwood and they are good mates. It's why Aish wants to come to Victoria instead of SA. What a coup for the Pies!

Not wanting to go to SA is a common theme.

Even huge $'s couldn't get Pav to go back.
