And a bit "tin foil hat" here, but what if the CIA were to use it to create scapegoats? Eg. John Hinckley Jr. and the attempted assassination on Reagan. Or the numerous mass shootings that are occurring these days.

The possibilities are endless. Crazy stuff.

It's made from a plant and is on the UN List of Essential Medicines. If it could get into the 'wrong hands', it's been there for decades.

VICE gets really hyperbolic and has been since big old Rupert bought them – and I'm someone who used to and still does occasionally love their voice, commentary, and romanticism of the zeitgeist. But this documentary never seemed to actually prove anything to me. I don't know.

Also, I'm sure the impossibly well funded and stocked up US have something immeasurably more powerful than this. And even if they don't, it's pretty easy to get people talking: all humans are intent on self-preservation. Worst case, you end up cutting off their bollocks and they'll tell you the secrets of the world. So even if they need to resort to something man-made, then it's probably already existent or just about to be.

That is just amazing....

I told this guy at work and he was like "this is going to revolutionise the world" - he went straight for the predator angle and how this could benefit him which i had a chuckle over.

Anyway 3 hours later he just came back talking about how it could solve all the worlds problems and i'm like how?

"Make me a cheese sandwich nicky - you make me a sandwich because you don't care and my hunger is relieved"

Then he made the point that you could take it in turns and even have groups that you're in and you can rotate sides etc.

Then we started talking generally about drugs and now we're going on an LSD play date.

Scopolamine is available on Silk Road. The comments from the buyers are hilarious... eg. "I must have ordered this when I was drunk and now I have no idea what to do with it. I'm too scared to open it!"

I've always thought that someone could put their boss "under". Make up a contract for $200k a year, requiring that you don't ever have come into work again? Something like Edward Norton's scene in Fight Club without the self-harm.

Silent Alarm , why the "big old meh"? It's a substance that gives you complete mind control over someone without them knowing... I thought this was reserved purely for science fiction.

Yes the doco tells you what the drug does and interviews victims and perpetrators.

Bumping this because nine backpackers overdosed on scopolamine in Perth this week.

I doubt the authorities will tell us if any good stuff was in what the backpackers took. They have a vested interest in the "TAKING DRUGS WILL **** UP YOUR LIFE" narrative. Putting people in hospital was probably not quite the intention of whoever made it.
