Port only post:
Julian Rowe took a great speccie in front of the Grandstand, that drew applause from supporters from both sides.
I never really pay too much attention to the opposition side, but I did notice Shane Birss get a fair bit of the ball, he probably finished with good stats at the end of the day.
In the Reserves, Port finished winners 19.9.123 defeating the Scorpions 12.15.87... Again, innacurate kicking from the Scorpions stopped this from being a very even contest.
In Ports first hit-out for the season, we finished narrow winners by just 1 goal, after Casey fought back to add some interest in an otherwise standard practice match hit-out.
Quarter by Quarter scores:
Casey 2.5, 5.10, 9.13 15.16.106
Port 3.3, 6.6, 13.8, 17.12.112
Port probably won the game in the third quarter, but some innacurate kicking from the Scorps throught the game could have put the result in their favour.
I was happy that everyone seemed to get through the game ok, while it's nice to have a win, the result doesn't really matter.
The Scorpions with about 8 junior Saints players put up a good effort.
For the Borough, the only notable omission I can think of, was John Baird. While the line-up will probably only change slightly in the H&A season, I reckon the coaching staff would be pleased with some of the signs from today. We really look like we have a side with multiple tall options.
Fanning was good in the ruck, and Spriggs and Robbins showed that we could have a very good midfield, taking some of the load of Shooter in 2007. Dukes finished with 4 goals, three of which came in the third quarter, while Smith and Bloomfield also slotted 3 each.
