I don't know if I have asked this but is anyone out there into the scorpions? y'know that German metal band from the 70s until now. I love all their stuff epsecially their power ballad and heavier stuff. my favourite song is either "wind of change", "alien nation", "rock you like a hurricaine" or "still loving you" :thumbsu:

Scorpions were a great band, Im pretty sure their fame was in the 80's could be wrong. I love Rock you like a hurricane, always a classic.

actually they are still big in parts of europe and in Russia. still doing sell out gigs still had several top 10s in the 90s but yes their fame worldwide did slow down slightly after "wind of change"

First saw them in Roger Waters' production of The Wall in Berlin in 1990, the biggest concert ever at that time, is that true? Anyway they did in the flesh both versions, suited it quite well.

The band had distinctive phases. The 70s stuff was fairly progressive to begin with, and started going a bit more commercial towards the end of the decade Throughout the 80s they were mainly commercial hard rock, and this broke them in the States.

Most people in Australia know little outside of "Wind of Change". In fact, one radio station had that song in a "guess the theme" set, in a set of one hit wonders!!!

Don't let "Wind of Change" fool you into thinking that sound defines their first 20 years. The last 10-15 years have probably had more ballads but for a pack of old farts they still rock pretty hard, and aren't afraid to experiment (did the symphony trick before Metallica, and also did a full acoustic album).

'one hit wonders' listing :o oh man, that sucks of ignorance.

I still think that their cover of The Who's 'Can't Explain' is rippin' with energy and 'Bad Boys Running Wild' is another forgotten gem of a rocker!!
'Tease Me Please Me' is one of their 'best c*** rock themes' that sure to BE on the playlist in the better stripper bars around town :thumbsu:

I recall listening to 3PBS FM in the late 80's and the Scorps 'The Zoo' was one of the tunes that got frequently on the playlist, that tune was stuck in my head for the entire late 80's.

I think I prefered ACCEPT a shade over The Scorps as my fav German export.

The heavy rock show hosted by Jack Sabbath and Fred Zeppelin?;)

Vigin Killers and Animal Magnetism were some of my favorite tunes.

The original Virgin Killers cover by the Scorpions is a rare collectable, and it featured the great German guitarists, Ulrich Roth and Rudolf Schenker (Brother of wizz guitarist Michael Schenker, of UFO and Michael Schenker Group fame).

German rock royalty, indeed.:thumbsu:

Another great German rock band that everyone should check out is "Eloy".

Krautrock at its best.

Mathias Jabs and Rudi Schenker were Europes Van Halens in the early 80s.

Great sound for the day.

Black:thumbsu:out.

yeah they're still going strong. My folks went overseas to Europe, came back yesterday and bought me back a live DVD of the Scorpions in concert with the Berlin Phillamonic Orchestra from 2000. it took 5 years to organise the concert too. absolutely amazing:) stuff especially with the orchestra in the background:thumbsu:
